  • Four Stars
I have tried most of the sock aids and this is the best one. I don't know how much strength it would take for regular socks but it takes considerable strength for pressure socks. However, this can be minimized by the following procedure: 1. Pull the top of the sock over the frame by hand and then use rubber gloves to pull the sock all the way up onto the frame, keeping the heel of the sock centered, (towards the black circle). 2. Use the rubber gloves to roll and compress the sock back down the frame about half way. This minimizes the distance you have to push the foot through the frame, which minimizes the force needed. 3. Dry the foot (especially after a shower) and apply some powder or lubricant along the heel to minimize friction and force, necessary to push the foot through the frame. 4. Sit down and put your foot on the floor in front of you, but not fully extended. 5. Point the toes downward and insert the foot into the sock. (This is the moment where strength is needed). I find rolling the ropes once around my wrists, reduces the pressure on my fingers and gives me more leverage. 6. Pull hard on the ropes, keeping the line of force in a straight line with your pointed toes and raise and extend your leg outward as much as possible. As soon as the heel has passed through the frame, turn the foot back up and continue to pull up on the frame until it slides out along the calf. Then pull it free and adjust the sock by hand. I bought two of these sock aids so that I can put both socks onto the frames at the same time without having to stand up twice and don and doff the rubber gloves twice. In this way, with practice, it takes me only 2 minutes to put on both compression socks in the morning. --- re the sock remover device, I find it more difficult to use than removing the sock by hand because a lot of pressure is needed to insert and push the sock off after you engage the sock at the heel. I just push the socks off my heel with my fingers. I give it 5 stars because it is the best of what is available. Good luck. ... show more

I use your "pull on sock devise". I have knee high compression socks. However the sock removal tool, is not practical for me, as in it's use, it tends to rub against my skin, which is very tender on my lower leg. In some instances, it will scrape the skin. The sock is very taunt and pushes the removal tool very firm against the leg. I've had blisters on each leg over the course of time and it becomes very painful. There is on recommendation I would like to make on your "sock on" devise. In the past, I have used a 3-layered sock compression system. The socks were only ankle high. With knee high socks, your sock on devise cannot be used as the compression of the sock, squeezes the plastic sides to the point, I cannot put my foot in and slide the sock on; even using baby powder. I would highly recommend a thicker material for the plastic part and a least 2 inches longer, to make the heal part of the sock come out in the right place. Eb Arseneau ... show more

  • Good but not for wide feet
This is a very sturdy sock aid or "sock putter on-ner" as I call it... but definitely NOT for anybody with the least bit of width to your feet. I have a size 12EEE foot and I tried to use this aid but came rapidly to the conclusion that I would have to cut off two toes to make it narrow enough to fit. In addition the 1/2" ropes are too thick, over kill and just get in the way. I can't reach my feet due to back operations and 4 metal rods in my spine that run from the neck to the pelvis and have used these devices for the last 5 years. Normally I use a wide, white sock aid which is also available on Amazon from various sellers. These work but are not very sturdy and crack after a few months use so I regret that this nice blue sock aid does not fit, as it seems sturdier than the white helper so back it goes. If the manufacturer reads this, how about making a nice, sturdy blue one in wide width with a single 1/4" rope instead of the two 1/2' ropes used. I dropped the rope several times trying to use this device and couldn't reach the floor to pick it up without stopping the procedure, taking it off the three toes I managed to fit in it and starting again. A single rope prevents the rope from dropping out of your hand and is easier to use. The sock stick that helps you get your socks off is a good idea and works. The only negative thing I could think of with this is that I wished it was longer by about 4 inches. ... show more

  • Challenging but very useful
I have had the sock appliance before. I forgot to pack it for an extended trip so I ordered the set. I was able to use the constriction stocking over an ace ankle support! Yes, the placing of a constriction sock over the plastic form can be a challenge, but it is possible, even with arthritic hands. I just do not give up easily. And the ease with which I was able to remove the stockings made it worthwhile. My ankle did not swell as it usually does without the stockings. Putting on regular stockings is a breeze. I ordered one for the friend I was staying with as well. ... show more

  • Mixed review
The sock applicator is hard to use with reduced arm strength I have and hard to get foot into it as is is narrower than other applicators I have had. The old applicator I had broke, and ordered this one for the off tool that looks like a long shoehorn. I have a hard time getting my compression socks on this unit and ordered a different one, but the sock removal tool is worth its weight in gold. Getting compression socks off is as hard as getting them on if not harder. This tool makes it so much easier. ... show more

  • Just what I needed
This product is a gift from heaven. It was an answer to an unspoken prayer. I was having trouble putting on socks, stockings, and feeling so tired and disgusted after struggling each time I wanted to put on my socks or even panty hose. RMS Sock Aid is the perfect aid for helping you if you are having trouble bending down or lifting your feet to put on socks, etc. And it comes with a long shoe horn which also helps to remove the socks. Clever indeed! Thank you Lord!!! ... show more
