So my chickens can pop these little suckers apart. Not real often but still happens. I have heated water in the winter on a 100 gallon tank. They seal to the tank and thats impresive. But the metal nipple can and will pop out at the worst of times. I have about 50 nipples and I keep an extra bag close by for such an event. Again, best on the market for illinois cold winter and a heated water tank but still not perfect. As a matter of fact I have one that is leaking now but not popped apart just leaks. Hooked up to city water and they would periodically blow the valves out spilling water all over. Scared the chickens half to death a couple times when they would go to get a drink and it would unleash a flood of water at them when the valve broke. I bought a adjustable water pressure valve and set it to 5lbs and ever since they have been working great. No leaks when the water pressure is that low. ... show more

These last for years. Much better than the under mount type. These work great in 5 gallon buckets or pvc pipe. Teach one bird to use them and the rest of the flock will catch on

    • Work really well!
These were easy to install….I had a few that leaked where they go into the bucket so I just wrapped them in Teflon tape and screwed them into the bucket and no more leaking. The chickens learned to use them quickly. Occasionally, the nipple where the chicken drinks will continually leak but if I “bleed” the nipple….held it open so water flows out for 30 seconds or more…there is no more leaking. Overall, these horizontal nipples are great and I would buy them again and would recommend others buy them too! ... show more

I have tried some other watering system for chickens that haven’t worked at all. However, these have been amazing! I put 6 of these into a 5 gal bucket for our flock, and they have worked perfectly for months now! It took 2 days off working with my chickens to figure it out, but once one hen got it, they all caught on. I also followed the instructions carefully as to not over tighten during install and had no issues with any leaking. Overall great product, I highly recommend! ... show more

    • Good but need washer
These are very good water nipples, but do need silicone washers. Every one I've installed has little drop about every 20 seconds so I put my own washer on or a dab of silicone. Product deserves a 5* and would get it if they had the washer included.

I took a chance after NO response on the TPI (Threads Per Inch). The 3/8" was in the description. On to the rest of the story ... I already had a supply of 1/2" PVC with 3/8-24 "T". So with several wraps of Teflon tape they worked quite good, the chickens made use of them quickly and no more poop-in-the-potable-pond. I set this up for my neighbor's chickens. ... show more
