  • Great and fun build but could be amazing
RiceBlock Super Sports Car I always state I'm a 56 year old lego nut and have been playing with Lego's since I was 5. My reviews are always honest and I explain in detail when I find something. #1 Manual - The manual for this build is excellent. I would say at least equal to Lego brand manuals. The directions and images are clean, detailed and easily to follow. In my opinion the best I've seen for a non Lego brand. #2 Steering system - Go to section 45 where you begin to building part of the steering system. You'll see a flat piece with teeth on it. On that teeth piece you'll see two small black connectors attached to bottom of that piece. Those two connectors move back and forth on top of a flat section as you move the wheel. In my experience building steering for vehicles I find a different approach works better. This might be hard to explain but I'll try. I would use two of half connector pieces instead. They look like the two black connectors mentioned before. From there I would connect a smooth 1x4x1 piece upside down so you have two smooth pieces moving against each other. Much less friction and if done correctly, less moving around and stronger. I find the steering setup rather rough when trying to turn the wheels. Again it's not how I would do it. #3 section 69. In this section you have to attach a little wrench looking piece into a connector. What I would suggest doing is not connecting the one round connector to the steering system first. Instead build it all together and then do as the instructions suggest. I found it's much easier to do it this way instead of how the instructions show. It can be really difficult to push the wrench piece into place. I tried using a small long nose pliers but it was still difficult. It's not a big deal but it will save some frustration. #4 section 78. This section requires you to build two universal joints or u-joints . I highly suggest you use long nose pliers and build it in a location where the pieces are unable to go flying too far such as a tall box. I tried twice without pleirs and failed twice. Using pleirs and got it on the first try. They could have gone the extra mile and just include the u-joints already put together. #5 section 121. You are supposed to attach both roof panels to the main curved roof support. This is poorly designed. Each panel only connects to the main roof support using 2 small round pieces. The panels do not attach well and get knocked off very, very easily. Did I mention very easily? You have three choices, try to leave the panels on and never touch the roof again, glue them, or go with a classic T-Top style roof. #6 section 151. The seats are ok but only connect at the front corner. It should have designed to have another connector at the top of seat. It feels like seats were an after thought. #7 section 169 and 172. You are supposed to put a flexible tube in the fender wells to I guess make them look a little more rounded. Yeah, not really. You could leave them off and I doubt anyone would care or use the same fenders as the back ones. Kind of a lazy design in my opinion. Go the extra distance. #8 section 173 to 183. Building the gull wing doors. The doors are cool. However, they are not the same. The driver side door is built differently and it's much stronger. The passager door is missing parts in the design and it shows. The passager door doesn't stay up and feels loose. Why they didn't do the same thing to both sides is a guessing game. I'll fix mine at some point and do it right. Conclusion: I know about time. Overall a fun build except for sections I mentioned. The car looks very cool. I like the panels that open up to reveal the engine. Of course who doesn't like gull wing doors. If there is one thing I really think doesn't do this build credit is the engine. The crankshaft and pistons design is simple but cool. But, you know I had a but in there, It's six cylinders. No serious super car like this one has six cylinders. At a minimum 8 cylinders is a must along with some kind of turbo charger. Would I recommend it to a friend? Absolutely yes. ... show more

  • Very nice!
Color: blue
I started to like building lego cars. I didn't get anything for christmas but a $25 gift card. So i got myself this with the difference paid and tbh, it's a really nice kit. Very beautiful pearlescent design, even larger than my two lego car sets. My favorite color is actually the green it ended up being, ( I'm lucky it didn't come out being blue, I don't hate blue.) The only issue i had with it is some parts did give me a hassle to snap together (5-10 Minutes to snap 2 together) and some pieces like the front bumber were very loose and didn't stay together very well, had to glue them together. All in all, i had fun with it and I plan to get the motor for it eventually! ... show more

  • Fun build and very nice looking car
Color: blue
The pieces were a little harder to get together than a traditional building block set, but it’s probably because of the super cool paint. My son was still able to get it together without adult help, had a lot of fun building it, and loves the finished car. It’s his new favorite set and he wants to buy more of these in the future. Thank you! ... show more

  • Poor quality control
Color: blue
I really enjoyed putting this model together and I love the way it looks. I didn't notice until after I received it that it doesn't come with an engine. It leaves a space for an electric motor and even includes installation instructions. Other than Amazon, I can't find any information on RiceBlock, so there is no input on what type of motor to install. The manual is confusing and they squeeze to much information onto one page. They skip steps and the pictures are small (I had to break out the magnifying glass). You can figure it out if you have the patience (this is not a kit for young children). Some of the parts are very similar in appearance so I can see where some might think parts are missing. I figured out I was using the wrong elbow for the front bumper, but there are no directions indicating too make sure you have the right piece. The car came with the right amount of pieces, but I ended up with 2 duplicate pieces for the right door, so I don't have the top piece for the left door (ordering another car from Amazon to be able to finish). The blocks are as close in appearance as Legos. There is an issue, in that, they mostly fit "tight." My fingers were sore by the time I was done. If there not too tight then they're too loose (I had to super glue the front bumper and 2 pieces on the rear). The lower left for bumper drags, so not sure if adding a motor is a good idea. Unless I can figure out how to modify the suspension. You can enter a search for LED lights, but you won't find any specifically designed for RiceBlock kits. If they tighten up their quality control and made suggestion on where to find the best matching accessories, this would be a really nice car. ... show more

  • Son LOVED this

  • Too difficult
Color: blue
The colors are pretty but my teenage son said it was too difficult to put together and the peices were painted and challenging to put together. My son puts all kinds of complex Lego sets together by himself without any assistance in a short amount of time, but this car- he got to the roof and then gave up because it wouldn't go on and more peices kept coming off. Other adults said they would need a lot of time to figure it out so it's currently on hold and was a disppointing CHRISTmas present. ... show more
