  • Some Nostalgia, Mislabled and Duplicate Games
Style: Blue
I thought this looked like something fun to have for nostalgia and playing old games on a portable device when bored. The screen is pretty small (haven't tried the external controller or plugging into a TV yet - although the included cable is super short so you'd very likely need some extensions unless you're sitting within 6 inches of the TV. The console itself feels fairly cheap but it does play games. Despite being able to select between English and Chinese for the menu, some of the games still play in Chinese. I noticed there are a lot of duplicates (so definitely not 400 "unique" games as marketed). There are also some that seem to be labeled incorrectly. Overall, probably not worth the current $16 price. It's fun for a little while and there are some good games in there. I'm sure I'll use it once or twice a year. ... show more

  • My 9 & 10 yr old like this game boy

I played Pac-Man on this device pretty cool. It has a lot of different games.

  • Great!

I bought this for my kiddos so they would stay off their phones. The games are hard though and the console is quite small. My 5-year-old loves it but my 12-year-old found it hard to handle. The games are fun and there are plenty to choose from. I would buy again.

  • The scree size is not accurate.
Style: Blue
The media could not be loaded. Compared to my previous retro FC plus which has a 3-inch widescreen this screen is at least a third smaller with a large black border making it look like the screen is the same size but it's not.

  • Great for young kids

Let me preface this review with saying that this is a fairly cheap product. Some of the titles are duplicate games, the title names are terribly incorrect, and it's very lightweight. The Gameboy Color is a bit heftier than this "Game Box," so it makes it feel cheap and hollow. Battery life is decent, claims 6 continuous hours of gameplay on a single charge. I can't test that, since I'm not going to sit there and play for 6 hours. I did play around with it for a solid hour before needing to go do something else. I can't figure out how you tell what the battery percentage is though, so that's a mystery. It's definitely fun playing the classic nostalgia inducing games like Contra or Super Mario Bros. On to the bad: the charging cable for the battery is SEVEN INCHES LONG. 7 inches is all the distance you get to plug this in to charge. That's unheard of; I didn't even know these cables were made that short. It's also micro USB, so finding a standard 6 foot cable to charge this with is becoming more difficult by the day. You can play two players if you hook it up to the TV and you plug in the controller they include (pictured). However, those cables are incredibly short too! The TV cables are 29.5" and the remote is 33.5" which means that this is the total distance you could be from the TV, assuming that the plugs were on the front of the TV, and not on the back. This handheld console can connect to a TV via an even more antiquated set of cables: RCA. As in the RCA from the 1940s! To my knowledge, there isn't a single new TV sold in the world with this receiver. So you either have to own a really old CRT TV, or you have to buy an adapter to hook it up to your modern one. On that note, buy a LONG adapter, since you'd ideally want more than 2 feet between you and the TV. You also can't charge the unit while the second controller is plugged in, as they use the same port at the top of the console. Also, there is no aux input, so no compatibility with headphones. It does, however, have a volume control wheel on the left of the device. Verdict: It's a cheap and inexpensive way to introduce younger kids to the games we grew up with when we were their age. This will allow them to see just how great the classics were, and how hard we had it when it came to portable video games. It's also a good buy because you won't be particularly upset when they break it or drown it, since it's not a $200 modern console. Can't go wrong with that. ... show more

  • Low quality fun!
Style: Blue
I love these little handheld portable game devices, and this one was exactly what I thought it would be. I’m giving it four stars because for the low price, you get what you would expect, a cheap handheld game loaded with nostalgia. This handheld game is very light, mostly because it has thin cheap plastic. The directional keys, and buttons on the main device are surprisingly decent. The screen is a little smaller than advertised, and although it looks very bright when you turn it on, you do notice it’s darker than you would like when playing it. The device charged up very quickly, and seems to hold a charge for a long time. As far as game selection goes, there are actually a lot of really nice titles on this device. I’ve played through quite a bit of them now, and most of them are pretty good. You will definitely come across quite a few where you notice differences from the original game, but for the most part, they are not bad. I found a ton of fun games to play and a bunch of games I had completely forgotten about. Many times, with this type of portable game, you get about 20 recognizable games and the rest are really no good. This machine has a ton of really good games which definitely surprised me. The added controller is really a nice touch, although you will notice that the directional pad and buttons are not as good as on the main device. I do like that the cord for the controller attaches to the top and stays out of the way. This game will look really nice on my shelf and occasionally I will probably bring it out to play with. My son has been pulling it down quite often and really does enjoy trying out all the different games. We have also had fun playing several of these titles together. I also like that the extra buttons for all the Nintendo style games are turbo buttons that you can use in the games. It’s really nice playing a game like joust or balloon fight and not having to button mash. So overall, I would say I got exactly what I expected to get with this portable game. It’s definitely on the cheap side, and the screen could be much better, but for the low price you pay it does give a lot of fun. If you are looking for a cheap, portable game, that will give you a ton of nostalgia then I wouldn’t hesitate to give this a try. If you are looking for something of high-quality, then I would look elsewhere. ... show more
