I love these retractable leashes. They are an extremely valuable tool to have on your fishing vest. It works perfectly for small lightweight items that you use regularly. For example, I took my nephews fishing for the first time on a small river with lots of trees and brush. I had a pair of clippers on a retractable leash and they got used a lot since quite a few lures got stuck in trees, brushes and logs. It’s so nice that have items like clippers, small pliers, measuring tapes, scales, etc. easily accessible and also secured to your gear so that you don’t accidentally drop your tools in the water and lose them. I would say this is a critical piece of gear for every fisherman. These leashes seem to be pretty good quality so far but I can’t comment on their longevity since I haven’t had them for very long. I do like that these have a couple of attachment options depending on what you’re hooking it up to. One of the options works like a safety pin which is super easy to use, but if you prefer the good old fashion key chain style split-ring, you have that option as well. These retractable lanyards are so handy for fly fishing and other things too. I clipped a swiss army knife to one because swiss army knives don't have a pocket clip. So I clip the retractor to my beltloop and then the SAK rides vertical in my pocket. The line comes out about 27 inches. It's also great for keys and obviously fishing tools, like clippers, pliers, scissors, etc. You could also use them when backpacking so you don't lose essential tools. Tape a bic lighter to one, or clip the lanyard to a ferro rod and striker. The 3 pack is nice and I also like the orange color so they are easy to see. The carabiner type clip makes these easy to clip onto things and isn't easily accidentally unclipped. The retractable aspect works really nicely on these, and having 3 at hand means I have plenty to use for all the needs on my fishing vest: forceps, net, and nippers. The retractable part really is heavier duty than others I've used, and the clip at the end of the line has a swivel that helps keep things from tangling. ... show more

Pullther Fishing Lanyard. These lanyards appear well made with strong clips and smooth extension and retraction. The tension measured around 5 to 6 ounces so anything heavier than that would probably extend the lanyard. Getting older I'm drawn to things with bright contrasting colors and the orange fits the bill for me. The lanyard extends around 24 inches and a three pack for this price is a good value for this quality. ... show more

I've other self-retracting lanyards that are clearly based on the same body and line, so when looking at this set, compare price and attachments/hooks. I like that this set comes with both a unique and (up to this point) secure hook - pinch the hook to release the catch from the inside of the hook, swing it open, attach item and re-latch. So far it's held, but we have only tested/used it a bit. The ring is a nice option and is easy to remove if you just prefer the hook. I also like the small build detail that helps snap the line back into a fixed place to reduce an attached item from spinning around your hip. This is a straightforward product that does a simple job well. The tension and retraction are appropriate for the task at hand, which for me is holding a forceps or nippers. It is too small for retracting a net or wading stick in my opinion. The wide clip and split ring at the end of the lanyard are nice and add some flexibility for various uses. These retractors can be used in many different ways. For me, I use them to keep at the back of my boat to keep a needle nose pliers within a handy distance for fishhook extraction from a recently caught fish. The line pulls out about 25". The construction of these appears to be top notch. The materials used are all rust proof as far as I can tell. The hooks and clamps are stainless steel, and the body is plastic. Having a pair of scissors will be coming soon to my work bench. Keeps them handy when needed for trimming fishline after tying on a new lure or freshening up a rig. ... show more

Got these for easy access to fishing tools. They work as they should. Clean pull and retraction. Hold a pair of nail clippers well without pulling out. Will see how they hold up over time, but they feel substantial. Great price point for 3. Recommend.
