Description

Vampires awake from their torpor as the eternal roses are blooming. You have until sunrise to run to the labyrinth and pick the most beautiful bloom, hunting for humans on your way, tempting familiars into helping you, and increasing your powers to become the most notorious vampire. The Hunger is a race where each player will have to optimize their card deck, hunt humans to gain victory points, fulfill secret missions, and eventually acquire a rose and return to the castle before sunrise. The more you hunt, the slower both you and your deck become, which will make it harder and harder to get back before daybreak. Can you become the most notorious vampire? Or will you burn to ashes at sunrise? The Hunger plays 2-6 players in about 60 minutes! For ages 12+. Components: 122 Hunt cards, 6 Vampire sheets, 3 Rose cards, 6 Starting decks, 1 Game board, 1 hunt track, 55 Tiles, 13 Wood tokens, 26 Bonus tokens, 1 Rulebook. • Super Fun Deck Builder
While I haven't played Clank!, or many deck building games, I've played many popular games with hand management/deck building mechanics, so I have enough experience to rate this game--The Hunger is fantastic! Colorful artwork give the cards and board a vivacity which really feeds into the need for speed--this is a racing game! For a long time, I was drawn to dice chucking games like Elder Sign, and loved them so much, I refused to play games not utilizing dice--dumbest move ever! The Hunger doesn't have dice, though there aren't any battles, either--but that doesn't mean it isn't clever, quick paced, fun, and an all around good time. Gameplay goes by quickly, and there is a light-hearted aspect to it which makes me want to play more often. I've seen comments about this being a slightly complex game--I disagree! The game itself is straight forward, turns are fast and easy--but, the rule book is a bit of a mess to look through! Just write down the setup, turn order and rounds--which would fit on one page--then, refer to the rulebook when necessary. I'd give The Hunger 10 Stars if I could. It would be an excellent gift for most board gamers, and would be a good family game to play with older kids. I can't wait to play this with my friend: ) ... show more

  • Pretty Fun and Silly “Clank” style game. 8/10
I love the card variety in this game and the expansion makes it even better! I also like that there are 2 different boards for different levels of difficulty. The art is good, the rules and gameplay are familiar and easy to learn/teach. My biggest issue with the game is the almost impossible task of getting a rose and then returning to the castle in time so you don’t lose. But even if you achieve this you typically will not win anyway because you have to strictly focus on getting the rose instead of gaining points. So it’s this weird spot if not worth trying. However the expansion and the “easier” board somewhat remedy this. So over all I’d give it an 8/10. ... show more

  • Fun game to play although a touch complicated
I enjoyed playing the game with friends. Rules are a tad arduous for first play through but if you regularly play board games it's not that bad. Fun game.

  • Great card builder, wonderful theme.
This is a great game if you're into deck builders. The elephant in the room is Clank! It is similar in that you're venturing into a place and need to get back out alive. That's where the similarities end. Instead of building a powerful deck, you start with good cards, then need to balance getting victory points by adding cards to your deck that also make it actively worse and more difficult to. Move around the board. There's a huge risk/reward element. ... show more

  • Super fun game
It took about an hour to read all the instructions and try to figure out what's what. But I'm a gamer and have played games that took 7+ hours to figure out how to play so this was cake for me. There's a few rules my friends and I argued over but there's some reddit threads that helped solve arguments. Super fun and I heard there's an expansion coming soon this year or next so I'm looking forward to that! ... show more

  • Lighter clank!
A lot of beautifully illustrated cards, make this deckbuilding game an eye candy, but this is a “push your luck” first. Lighter than clank in rules, but more punishing. The game has its tragic moments and tension in the last rounds, and the theme is well used

  • Fun, and easy to learn.
Very fun game, light deck building and press your luck mechanics. My play group really enjoys it.

  • Eh, it’s okay.
The game is just okay. A little boring. Need a lot of luck to score well. Making it to the end and back is very possible but not worth it.
