Bought this for a 5+ year old grandson 2000 miles away. The choice was based that it offered something more than a remote control toy that would engage skill making. Since this was programmable it met that requirement. Also we hoped it would engage more than a day or two. I did that as well as it got played with for weeks afterwards. Also it had to be fun and durable which for what it is succeeded. We got a different robot toy for his brother 3.5+ years old but they do play together and both enjoyed this robot. I ordered this a while back for my son to have on his birthday. I did a ton of research and this was the best reviewed under $100. It arrived really quickly, but when I opened it, I was upset to find that there were scuff marks and worn off coloring on the chest piece, knees and feet and broken and taped together packaging. I contacted the seller and he responded within a couple hours. He apologized, let me know he was new and that he was working with a manufacturing company who just sent them out. I was just looking to return it, but he immediately offered and shipped out a new one! Unfortunately, as great as the seller is, the new one came with the same defects, except that the packaging was in tact and not scotch taped together. I guess this is just a manufacturing defect, and I hope that it is improved. Now, I love that it has a charging port instead of batteries- it saves me money and prevents an upset 3-year-old. The programmed songs, facts, and dancing are cute- very loud, but cute. The one thing I didn't like, was that it taught my son to say, "This is lame." The facts and songs are great, but limited and they repeat themselves often due to few options. It says you can program is from your computer to say and do different things, but I haven't found that to be accurate.The controller is a bit wonky and doesn't work half of the time. My son who loves robots grew out of it pretty quickly- in less than a week he was done. Now he just uses it as he would any of his action figures. That is fine, just not what I had hoped for. But, for the price you can't expect too much, and what the product lacked, the seller made up for the difference. I guess I would just advise that 1)Manufacturing on aesthetics are poor, 2) Independent programming is nearly impossible, 3) the language chosen isn't necessarily the greatest. BUT the seller is great, the information that the robot does have is neat, and it works as a great giant opponent for Batman, The Hulk, And Captain America. ... show more
