Items is missing battery. Cannot review functionality as it is shipped without all the necessary parts to make it work. Update: Replacement has the battery and worked perfectly. Fully functional with a metal bucket. Kid loved it!

This is a great Remote-Control Excavator. Pros: Very well packaged, well made-constructed mtl for the price of the item, worked great straight from the box, and yes - I would recommend charging the two batteries (full power) before use. Can't always rely on using something straight from the box before charging. The machine is awesome digging in loose fill dirt and/or sand - great power too. When digging, gradually excavate the material so that it does not get stuck or hear the clicking noise - it's the same issue if the machine was "real". Speed is good too. Cons: Nothing really so far - But I would not recommend this particular item to younger kids (maybe 10+) - the remote control can be touchy (just like the real excavator) if you take your time, learn the controls you should do well. ... show more

It is very well made and handles like a real excavator. I originally bought the Volvo Double E 1/16 excavator, but found it weak and clumsy. The joystick controls on the Double E aren't as fluid if you want to do two movements at once, it's hard to stop where you want it when you let go of the control (you have to balance the movement traveling too far with the amount of play in the bucket to get it where you want - which is a challenge), the tracks fall off all the time on carpet. This one has none of those issues. It also stops itself more before clicking, has more power, more metal, it's bigger, can lift itself higher, has better forward reverse controls, overall much more fun. I like the look of the Volvo better though. Wish I could combine the two. ... show more

The battery and charger shipped with the truck were defective. I emailed Kolegend upon receipt of the toy regarding both. I received a quick apologetic response from them stating they would contact me shortly thereafter. After a weeks time with no response I reached out to them again and after two weeks time I failed to receive a response - I checked my junk mail. I ordered a replacement battery set because the Remote Control Dump Truck (1540) was a gift and I ran out of time waiting for a response from Kolegend. The truck works well but otherwise I will not do business with Kolegend again. Update: It took a while but Kolegend sales contacted me (shortly after I originally posted this review) stating that they didn't receive my emails. They immediately refunded the cost of the extra battery\charger set I purchased so I now consider the matter closed to my satisfaction. I decided not to change my 1 star rating because I think it's helpful for perspective buyers to see how this vendor handles customer complaints. They dealt with the issue so otherwise I would give them 4 stars. ... show more

The product itself is great. I had a serious problem concerning the packaging process. The screws used to mount the vehicle to the cardboard insert that holds it in place, as well as the screws holding the battery access doors make the unpackaging process extremely difficult. The screws used in this process are the kind normally used in eve-glass repair, with very small heads. I am very adept at using all types of tools for various purposes; however, I had an extremely difficult time when attempting to unscrew each of these fasteners. In fact, I had to use unconventional methods to finally unloosen them without damaging the product, which was a gift for my grandson. I hate to think about someone with lesser tools or knowhow attempting to do the same without damage to the product. Great product, poor packaging procedures. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. My parents owned a trucking company, i spent the first few years of my life on construction sites and I recently decided to try and built my own hobby sized construction site. This was my first edition, I've always liked this style of dump truck (the real life ones are just so huge). This one is really nice, the details on the cast are great ive uploaded some photos to show the detail. I've hauled around some rocks in it and uploaded a video of that so you can see. The rocks do scratch the plastic and the weight being loaded more towards the rear can cause it to flip. so make sure you are taking that into consideration when your loading the truck. the controls are basic, just forward and back with each side controlled independently. as a result, its really easy to drive and use I have no doubt kids (of any age really) could use this pretty easily. great for a toy or if you are an adult who just hasn't grown up yet like me. ... show more
