  • Makes a complex subject easily digestible
Very impressed with how easy to read this book has been. Would highly recommend for anyone with even a cursory interest in the world of bond analysis and trading. Money well spent - and to the author, kudos on a job well done!

  • Awesome Book - Job Well Done Mark!
Informative read, well written and not too dense. Great for corporate bond neophytes and veterans alike

  • Highly Insightful and very readable
This new book on bond investing from Mark Rieder is highly detailed, engaging and is a pleasure to read. The structure of the book provides high-level concepts and market background before it dives into the more technical side of managing a portfolio of corporate debt investments. The book serves a wide audience - both the experienced investor (who will appreciate the insights and lessons learned) and the budding professional who needs to understand complex financial concepts. I recommend it highly. ... show more

  • A Must Read for Credit Investors
Mark does a great job at breaking down complex fixed income topics into easily digestible chapters. Whether you are an experienced credit analyst, portfolio manager or just someone interested in the field, this book provides great advice for how to successfully navigate the challenges associated with the fixed income world. He also does a great job providing insight into the role of trading, managing a portfolio of bonds and the fundamental research that credit analysts conduct. In addition, for those looking to break into the fixed income field, there are very helpful exercises that can be asked during the interview process with comprehensive answers. ... show more

  • Good background for any investment
While primarily about credit and fixed income trading, the book is also useful for investing in public or private equities since they all use credit. Private equity is especially leveraged so thinking through cash flow, leverage ratios, convertible bonds, and what can go wrong helps to de-risk those investments. Even though it seems like going to college again, one of my favorite exercises was creating the cash flow statement given a balance sheet. Then what would you ask the management team in a 1-1 meeting and what price would you pay for the company’s bonds. The book is a very practical application of concepts to make money vs. just an overview. ... show more

  • Deep dive
Starting this book, I was a bond idiot. Given my lack of prior knowledge, I can't speak to the book's thoroughness. I can say, though, that this book dramatically expanded my knowledge and covers a lot of territory.
