  • Great sound meter calibrator
Includes the 1/2 inch mike adapter and a factory calibration. Great buy for the price.

  • It does what it's suppose to do.
Style: Standard
If you care about using a calibrated sound meter, you'll need one of these. The unit has no whistles or bells. It has an on switch that allows you to set the unit for either 94dB or 114dB @ 1kHz. More can be found at reedinstruments.com under the heading; safety > sound meter. The unit is designed to calibrate sound meters with a 1/2" diameter microphone shaft. I found this unit to be the least expensive calibration unit I could find as all the other calibrators were in the $250.00 price range. I gave it five stars because it works and can be had for the best delivered price I could find and this was after a couple of days of web surfing. I can recommend this product for those two reasons and based on personal experience, it does what it's suppose to do. I'm a happy camper. I know this review is brief but there's not much that can be said about a no whistle-and-bell type product of this kind. It works and it's the best delivered price I could find. If that's what you're wanting, a best price device in which to check the calibration of your sound meter that has a 1/2" microphone column, this product will do what you're wanting. Hope the above helps in your buying decision. ... show more

3/15/2019. New device arrive with dead battery and switch in the on position. Replace with fresh Duracell 9VDC battery and it generates the proper frequency and DB. Recommend that before calibrating Sound level devices that you test battery voltage to assure proper operations and correct calibrations. ... show more

  • Simple to use and accurate
Style: Standard
I used this Reed 8090 to track accuracy of an inexpensive BAFX3608 sound meter and the reed works flawlessly every time and is super easy to use. Perfect for quickly checking calibration before every measurement session!

  • For the price, this device is unbeatable!
Style: Standard
I've used expensive calibrators and my experience is that this one works as well as any. For legal work one should get a cal certificate from B&K or NIST or some other recognized entity, yet all my SPL meters are within a fraction of a dB of each other. Re: environmental noise, who cares about a half dB or so? I'm open to be educated on this. ... show more

  • Does the Job
Style: Standard
This seems to do the job, but I feel like it’s -2db quiter then other 94db calibrators I’ve used.
