  • Gotta break them in, you will be rewarded
Size: 12 Color: Oro Legacy
I have the 8 inch boots, so I knew what I was in for. Breaking them is the toughest. 5 straight days for me. Once you do you love them. They fit small. I’m a 10.5 EEE. These 12.5 M width. I don’t use the bottom eyelets- to narrow for me. These were $429, and dropped to $249. Had to do it. Polish them. They are not water proof or water resistant. I had some good shoe polish and took them a shade darker. These are for work- I work an office. A lot of compliments. Consistent polishing keeps them dry. They work good with Orthotic inserts. ... show more

  • Super nice boots for sure.
Size: 10.5 Color: Oro Legacy
Over all these are great boots. They do run narrow and abit long. If you need to use orthotics they get to tight. I would recommend the 877 to anyone that doesn't need orthotics. They are a gourgous boot!

  • Make sure you check the date on the label inside the tongue
Size: 11 Color: Briar Oil Slick
The intent of my review is to make buyers aware of what to look for if and when you order these Red Wing Heritage boots from Amazon. I'm normally a size 12 or 12.5 in normal shoes and also have a removable orthotic footbed that in place in all my shoes due to my high arches. I ordered 2 pairs of Red Wing Heritage Moc 6" boots in Briar Oil Slick from Amazon in size 11.5 and 11. I recently purchased a pair of the Red Wing Heritage chukkas boots in briar oil slick and the 11.5 fit me perfectly. I liked the chukkas so much I ordered the 6" boots. When I purchased the chukkas, the person at the Red Wing Store showed me on the tag on the inside of the tongue of the boot that my chukkas were made on "10/15" - essentially since I purchased the chukkas in December, they were made 2 months prior. The 6" moc boots in size 11.5 arrived first from Amazon and when I opened the box, the first thing I noticed was how the boots looked "broken in" and the leather was faded, dried out, and old. The first thing I did was look at the label on the tongue and noticed the date was 2011 - these boots were almost 5 years old! Yet Amazon was selling them as "new." I tried the boots on, just to get a gauge on size and found the 11.5s to be too big. So I returned them. However, if they had fit, I would have certainly complained to Amazon for trying to sell me a new pair of expensive Red Wing boots that were obviously old and not up to any sort of Red Wing standards. Buyers - be aware of this issue and make sure you check the date the boot was made on the tag inside the tongue - the date is on the lower, right part of the boot below the model number. It's one thing if the boots are a few years old and still look brand new, but the boots Amazon sent me were definitely sub-par. 2 days later the size 11 6" moc boots arrived and I wasn't sure what to expect. I opened the box and immediately inspected the boots for quality and the date they were made. Fortunately, the date was "10/15" so I was sure these were recently made. While the boots looked as if someone had tried them on before, I could tell the size 11 was perfect for me and the boot fit great. The color of the briar oil slick along with the crepe sole looks amazing. I've been wearing them around the house for about a week now and I hate having to take them off. Every time I wear them they get more and more comfortable. I think of them as more comfortable than my favorite pair of running shoes, but the Red Wings provide far more support. I am very happy with the 6" moc boot and actually find them easier to break in than my chukkas. Once you decide on a color(s), and once you find your fit, I think just like my you will be sold on Red Wing Heritage boots. I am using these for wearing in the office, out in the field (construction), and for style around town. ... show more

  • An old friend
I have worn Redwings dating back to 1980 but had not bought a pair in many years. I got an office job and only wore my last pair infrequently so they lasted forever. I decided to treat myself to a new pair and I have to say I was pretty impressed with these. Nothing is made as good as it was 40 years ago but these come close. In my mind, the leather used to be a little less stiff, a little more supple right out of the box, but it’s been too long to be sure. Love the color. The leather seemed to have a few scuffs on it which I don’t believe was intentional distressing, which is why I deducted a star. I applied Bicks #4 to take away that dry look of new leather and it took care of the scuffs and put a nice shine on the boots without darkening the beautiful color at all. Yes, they require some breaking in, but they’re generally comfortable right out of the box with some wool work socks. You wouldn’t want to walk 10 miles in them on day one, but if you lace them properly tight so your heels don’t move around, you shouldn’t get blisters like some people claim. Especially if you go easy with how long you wear them for the first week or two. Thanks Redwing for still building a high quality boot! ... show more

  • Cut down break in period with my tips!
Size: 11.5 Color: Oro Legacy
If you're new to Redwing or a returning customer you know that the break in period for these boots are extensive, almost like sticking your bare feet into cinder blocks, rough and stiff and just MISERABLE. But I have a hack to cut the 2 week time in half! When you order these boots, hop on over and order Huberd's Shoe Oil as well. Also, get yourself some nice insoles (redwings are bare footbed). When they all arrive, lather the OUTSIDES of the boots (remove laces for best results) with a rag or brush, with a generous amount of Huberd's (color will change but not for good) Then, (get this) get yourself a regular ol' men's hand lotion (not paste) later your hand up real nice and stick your hand IN the boot and lather all around, not a ton now just enough to make a difference(more that you would use on your hands normally but not enough for a whole body), on the heel and tongue, feel free to add but remember you can't remove what is already done. Replace the laces. Then comes the kicker.......heat your oven to 175-185 place on (clean) center rack and bake (not convection) for 12 minutes without insoles. When timer dings, remove and quickly add insoles, make sure you have on a nice thick sock, place on feet and tie tight. Walk around until cool. Repeat 2-3 times as needed. Ive used this trick to break in baseball gloves and Ice hockey goalie mits. Take care of these boots and they will last forever. Hope this helps! ... show more
