We purchased this RecPro by Houghton based on a you tube recommendation because our factory installed Furrion unit was so loud that we couldn’t sleep.(One full on fan speed when using the cool setting.) I could not be more pleased with the RecPro unit. Not only does it have multiple A/C fan speeds but it’s also remotely controlled so no getting up out of bed to make comfort changes. The installation was as simple as they get so ignore the reviews that complain about the instructions. (Full disclosure, I am a trained mechanic and a semi retired Home Repair Business owner, but someone with average man skills shouldn’t find installing this too challenging.) The manual is written very well and easy to understand. I had the old unit out and the RecPro installed and running in less than 2 hours. The unit operates perfectly, Cools our small RV every bit as well as the Furrion unit did, and is a full 20 decibels quieter than the factory unit. Customer service was very polite and quick to resolve our only issue which resulted from FedEx playing Rugby with the package. The unit was packed extremely well with at least 3” of packing between the inner and outer box and no visible damage to the outer carton. Somehow FedEx managed to crack the lower shroud in 2 places. RecPro customer service took care of us once I sent them pictures of the damage and have been great communicators throughout. Installed myself just in time for Oregon’s 111° 4th of July weekend. The excessive heat made it difficult for the unit to keep up. But it managed to keep the camper at a balmy 75° through the weekend. In less intense heat (90-95°) the camper is maintaining a very comfortable 70° as set. Good buy and easy installation save me $2,800 over the service center quote of $3,800 for the install. It definitely is advised to have at least one helping set of hands! ... show more

Long story short I purchased a unit in June of 2023. Installation went smoothly and it works. Havent been able to put it to a real test because I'm in the middle of a rv build bit has turned it on a few times and it works perfectly. Fast forward to May 2024. Ordered another unit and installed it and it's not working properly and they are making me pay to return it. It's not my fault it didn't work out of the box so now I have to pay $300-$400 to return it? How is that fair to the customer? I've spent over $3k with them over the last year because I also ordered an awning but now I'm taking my business elsewhere because of their horrible customer service. ... show more

I purchased this AC unit for a front AC add on my Passport GT. It was pre-wired for a second AC so that part of the install was pretty seamless. The one thing was misleading was the instruction to use sealant. As I learned AFTER the install is that the roof membrane does in fact react with DICOR lap sealant. trapping that sealant under the gasket caused the roof membrane to bubble horribly. I ended up pulling the unit back up and removing all that sealant. If there is a need to cover the holes from an old roof hatch, I would (should have) used Eternabond tape. I would also recommend purchasing a torque wrench as is it really easy to overtighten the mounting bolts. Overall, it is ice cold and exactly what we needed to stay comfortable on hot nights. The profile is about 1 inch lower than the original GE unit that is in the middle of our rig. I love the remote and the holder that comes with this unit. The directional vents are exactly what is needed to give us as much or as little air as we want. The rig has a barreled ceiling and the gasket and unit conformed perfectly without an issue. We have had it on our rig for a few months now and so far have had no issues, no leaks, no movement. I did test it out on a 20 amp household circuit and it started and ran without issue. I wouldn't do this often, but for testing, it worked great, no tripping. Overall, I would purchase this again. ... show more

Easy install, quality product and much better than Coleman or Furrion (in my opinion). The unit is quiet, extremely cold and the packaging, ease of installation and finished interior and exterior look is top notch. Installed 6/9, went on trip 6/15 and WOW what a difference. The temps were low 90’s with feel like temps around 104 and my camper maintained 67 degrees consistently with a ducted main unit and the RECPRO bedroom unit running. My main unit would never get below 75 in temps like this and would never cycle off. The new unit allowed the main unit to cycle off and maintained the cold temps my wife and our GSD love!! Highly recommend this unit, the remote is not that bad. In this day of tech savvy needs it is fairly intuitive. Fan cycles nicely in “Auto” mode and the quite unit creates a very relaxing sleep environment. Gets cold quick and stays cold, if you need an AC unit, buy this thing!! ... show more

I bought my 2012 sandpiper 5th wheel used I’m 2nd owner it came wired for a second ac in the master bedroom this ac is awesome easy to install the only hard part was getting it up on roof got a couple of buddies no problem also the thickness of roof as an issue my roof was extra thick so I had to go buy some all thread longer 2 hours install with the local run to Menards for longer all thread Digital readout did I mention this thing is awesome basically plug and play keeps the master like a meat locker and takes the stress of the other 15,500 unit in the front 1/2 Would highly recommend ... show more

    • Perfect addition to our RV!
When our RV was getting too hot and the one A/C we had couldn't keep up we installed one and it was so loud and just didn't get cold. So we replaced it with this recpro one and I am so glad we did! It will get our area so cold that we can't stand it even when it's 85 degrees out!
