Description

A truly contemporary take on how to be a witch, Rebel Witch is an antidote to the cookie-cutter witchcraft agenda that gives a new perspective on the craft, asking each reader to create a powerful, personalized practice that taps into the current mood of female empowerment and spiritual rebellion. Rebel Witch reminds witches of the wondrous opportunity to jump into experimentation and invent something wild and individual, a practice shaped by their individual personality and life journey, rather than allowing themselves to be spoon-fed. It challenges witches to design a nurturing practice that is truly theirs. There's information about all the elements of the craft, from energy raising, sacred space creation and receiving signs to casting spells, holding rituals, scrying, potions and much more ... crucially, in each case the topic is discussed from an exciting contemporary perspective. So, when Kelly-Ann talks about sacred texts, she stresses that you can choose the texts that resonate with you - so why not Alice in Wonderland or Narnia? Maybe you want to move away from the traditional Wheel of the Year and create your own divisions? Instead of honouring a traditional deity, why not construct your own, choosing elements from rock stars, movie icons or fictional heroes? Or embody magical signs in your clothing and jewellery? Creativity and experimentation are encouraged, with tips to help the reader to be inventive. A curious reader with a desire to create an inspired, deeply personal path and free themselves from conformity will finish the book ready to take action and make magick happen! Read more

  • Not what I was expecting, but very welcome!
What I expected was a typical witchy book filled with how-tos for the beginner. What I got instead was a book that gave an option to people (like me) who aren't necessarily all that keen on doing things "the traditional" way. You won't find any how-tos or explanations on how to do spellwork or deep dives into traditions and histories. Instead the book encourages you to great effect to do your own thing. It doesn't push or preach to head in one direction or another, instead it asks questions that anyone should be asking themselves when they get started. What are you into? What resonates and what doesn't? What are you hoping to get out of this? Where do your ethics and morality lie? It politely informs you of options in an easy to read, informal way. Reading this book first will make reading any book that follows feel a lot better, removing a lot of pressure that often comes from trying to "squeeze a square peg into a round hole". I'd rank this as a must read. ... show more

  • There’s Something For Every Flavor Of Practicioner
This special book is informative on a variety of subjects relating to magical workings, and spiritual practices. I was especially impressed by the section on magickal ethics, and how the author discussed a few left hand path things from a neutral perspective. The book is chatty, friendly, and informative, without being coddling or condescending. It’s a book that would have been invaluable for me when first starting out because the author informs you on the basics of magick, in a very down to earth, easy to understand voice. The book is also filled with prompts and questions throughout that really give you food for thought, which I found myself thinking back on even after putting the book down. The topics touched on are truly numerous and you can sense how much care and research went into this creation. There’s entries on sigil work, art magick, working with spirits and entities, shadow work, and even things linking back to chaos magick and things like automatic writing and saint work. The author covered a menagerie of paths- including some less traveled. This book is a treasure trove, pointing you in the direction of things you may not have heard or thought of before, and best of all it feels very considerate of all people from all walks of life. Would definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Loved
Very enjoyable. Easy read, loved the prompts. Good book for so many things in life and how witchcraft can guide you through and reminders we need to care for ourselves. I will definitely keep this book ready to read at anytime.

  • A Comprehensive, INCLUSIVE Guide for Everyone
This book is very thorough and is written in the author's precious, adorable voice. Definitely check out her YouTube channel before/during/after reading the book. Maddox has prioritized the reader over her own preferences, which is very rare in these witchy books. She expresses continuously the importance of finding what works best for you, rather than prescriptive ideology. Let's be honest, unless you are in a closed or ceremonial type of magic, there really aren't any rules. Hence the draw. She uses anecdotes from her own life as a means to help you, the reader, connect the dots with your own life. "Maybe you would want to try this, maybe you could experiment with that..." The book is organized in a straightforward, understandable manner. She tackles topics like using mind-altering substances, ethics, hexes, and other sticky subjects in a frank, no-nonsense manner, which is also refreshing. I love it, recommend it, I treasure it. ... show more

  • Great book
Kelly goes above and beyond, this is a must have book, !!!!!!!!!! It's helped me to see my path in a whole new life, I have been a solitary practitioner for 8 years, and I make my spiritual path mine that's what makes it so magical, if I'm going to use a certain herb for a certain working I will I grow 90% of the herbs that I use in my magic, and I don't use them all for what their magical properties are I use them on how it feels right to me how I vibe with them, this is such a good book ... show more

  • Interesting
I like the overall message in this one, where it is ok to build your own witchiness. This gives you a general overview of ideas related to the basics and doesn't give specific instructions, which makes some sense. I like this for a beginner to supplement other books.

  • Respark your craft. Shape it into something completely unique.
This book was chosen for a green witch book club I partake in. Before reading I had no idea who the author was, and had never watched any of their YouTube videos. This book rocks! There is so much inspiration in here. The push to go live your best life. To shape your craft to fit your purpose, not everyone else’s. Complete with writing prompts and activities to help you, this book is perfect both for the novice and the experienced witch who wishes to get the most out of their practices. Highly recommend! <3 ... show more

  • A must have for "baby witches"
I have ordered quite a few books to help me along my witchcraft practice, and this by far has been the most helpful and referenced. Why? -An excellent list of journaling prompts to help you put together and customize your practice from all aspects i.e. spells, cleansing, deities, sabbats, etc. -It invites you to do more specific research yourself based on what you are most connected to instead of just telling you how you should practice. - The permission to practice according to methods that work best for you instead of adhering to common practices. ... show more
