    • Works fine for smaller quantities
Although I hear about bullet casters using cast iron skillets or Dutch ovens, I wasn't comfortable heating these cooking implements to temperatures (over 700 degrees Fahrenheit) that they weren't designed to handle. Some of these bullet casters will also tell you stories about the time their cast iron skillet cracked and the lead spilled out at their feet From the measurements, I calculated that the pot is about 26.25 cubic inches, which would be about 10.2 pounds of lead if you could safely fill it to the brim, which you shouldn't ever try to do because you don't want to be splashing molten metal. Filling the pot as much as I feel comfortable with, given that I have to scoop out jackets and sometimes bullet-looking rocks, and then pouring into a clean 12 ounce beverage can, the lead fills the can about 2/3rds full for a 4 pound ingot. Since my scrap hauls are better measured in dozens of pounds, rather than hundreds of pounds, this works fine for me. Although the RCBS pot is fairly small, it's something I can use over a camp stove to make ingots from small batches of range scrap without too much investment. If you wanted to, you could ladle out lead into bullet molds, but I think that would get tedious pretty quickly with a pot this small. I'd much rather use a 20 pound electric bottom-pour furnace for making bullets. ... show more

Nice little pop pop to be honest with you a little disappointed I thought it was going to be bigger it's only a 10 pounder but guess that's my own fault I probably should have checked out the information on to her or made a phone call and stuff but still not it's a wonderful little pot
