Description

The Razer Ornata Chroma features the all-new Razer Mecha-Membrane that combines the best of both membrane rubber domes and mechanical switches to deliver a typing experience unlike anything before. While traditional rubber dome keyboards are known for their soft cushioned touch, they fail to deliver accurate tactility due to their mushy feel and lack of actuation control. On the other hand, mechanical switches deliver fast actuations and distinct tactile feedback but cause fatigue during extended gaming sessions.

  • Well rounded keyboard for gaming to school work.
I’ve had this product for nearing 6 months now. It’s held up through siblings and others roughhousing. It’s had it’s fair bit of use in these 6 months, (atleast 5 hours a day). I’ve experienced an increase in performance once I switched from my old $15 off brand keyboard to this keyboard. It truly is an amazing keyboard for everything from writing 5 essays a day to playing competitive games for hours and hours on end. My hands never start to hurt, and I believe it’s because of this wrist rest. The wrist rest is a tad thin, and hard but it has the feel of a soft leather. It doesn’t negatively affect me in any aspect. The keyboard is easily cleaned, and is pretty much plug & play. I received mine and was very very satisfied. The tactile keys are clicky, yet soft. But not too soft. They feel amazing, unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. They sound like mechanical keys. The lighting under the keyboard is ambient with the opaque plastic above the LED’s. It makes it 10x better looking, and it helps with cleaning. The custom cable channel under the keyboard is very helpful for tabletop wire management. Having 3 channels for the keyboards wire. The wire feels strong and durable, after having it for 6 months and having it in each different channel, there are no signs of wear. It’s kept very nicely. The Razor lighting program is also very easy to navigate and use. Easily change between thousands of colors to match any setup. Thousands of different reactions are available to change as well. Everything is easily customizable. Overall this product is a definite item that I would recommend to anyone that is questioning purchasing this product. ... show more

  • Great keyboard for affordable price!
I wanted to improve my gaming setup and I wanted a Razer product with RGB Chroma and this gem caught my eye. It in fact has RGB Chroma, and the lighting is exceptional and has a lot of customization featured Razer Synapse. Unfortunately, like most Razer products, this keyboard doesn't have a USB port on the side which is personally fine by me seeing as I don't need one; just could've been a useful feature to have. The keyboard is made out of a very quality plastic, and it's got a bit of weight to it so I don't see this thing breaking any time soon. Now onto the the actual keys of the keyboard. It uses "mecha-membrane technology" which sounds a bit weird at first seeing how it combines standard keyboards and mechanical one, but I'm LOVING it thus far. I've used actual mechanical keyboards previously and they're dandy and all, but I just really like typing and gaming with this keyboard. I notice my movement in game as fast as I can humanly react, and can press up to ten keys at once for whatever reason. The keyboard also features mid-height key caps, meaning your responses are registered faster due to them being lower down. Another neat feature that this keyboard includes is the ability to enable "gaming mode" and this basically disables the windows key at the bottom of your keyboard so you don't accidentally exit the game, also giving the option to disable ALT-F4 and ALT-TAB. Last but not least, it includes the magnetic arm rest for when you're typing an essay for example or even this review (haha), it's like a pillow for your arms. In total, great purchase and I don't hope to encounter any problems with this keyboard in the future. ... show more

  • Glad to join the Cult of Razer. Though... working class cultist.
Awesome. Love the mid-height keys and the way each key-press sounds. Imbues confidence, without sounding too much like cheap plastic as other mech keyboards do. I've been a Logitech fan through and through, but I needed a work keyboard that checks all the boxes above. Hard to go back to non-mech when you're so used to the reliability of buttons designed with precision and reliability in mind. Plus, one that's much easier to clean compared to the typical scissor switch keyboard! (Oh, god...) Anyway, summary: 1. Very solid keys. Easy to remove and clean in solution 2. Solid construction. Chassis itself is sturdy without looking too foo-foo for a place of work. 3. Key presses sound like automotive dip switches (if you're familiar with what that sounds like). Put it this way - you don't hear the keys, you hear the switch ;) Not cheapo Microsoft-sounding plastic keyboard at all. Totally classy, and would probably make people look over cubes and say, "what on Earth are you typing on?" 4. Customizations on backlight color schemes make it very adaptible to any environment. Again, if using in a workplace, you don't want to call attention to yourself. Or worse, give people a reason to oogle over your personal stuff after you're out the door. 5. The wrist pad is a very nice touch. Feels like premium over-ear monitor (headphone) leather. It's pliant, light, but doesn't tear as easily. 6. Did I say, it's fantastically easy to clean??! Final note - that "cult" callout in the headline, that's a play on the "welcome" card that's in the packaging. Seems Razer really puts a lot of care and detail into their products and it shows. Packaging itself feels premium, and the instruction card - something that used to be common but now rare - it's thick, and in propa EngRish! Kidding aside, spending this moderate price for a gaming keyboard definitely made me feel like I was buying quality. Like buying Ultimate Ears instead of Logitech. (Yes, that's an obvious pun, but not a jab. Still much love for Logi.) ... show more
