  • It's worth every penny! (Firefly V2 NOT V1)
Size: Mouse Pad Style: Firefly v2 Color: Hard
I love this mousepad. If you read the reviews, you will see that most of the negative comments were about Version 1. Version 2 is much improved! It's a shame that so many of the top-listed reviews are for V1. The lighting is brilliant and complements my Huntsman Elite keyboard and Basilisk mouse very nicely. I should mention that I'm a business executive and not a gamer, but I learned a long time ago that the gaming hardware is better than the crap being sold for business use. It's been mentioned before that you are mainly paying for the cool lighting, but really, this is an excellent mousepad in addition to being super cool to look at. The lightly textured hard plastic surface is optimal for today's optical mouses (mice?). The soft-pad style mousepads were invented for the old style (long-gone) mouse that had a roller ball. Yeah, I know. some of you weren't even born then. This hard plastic style is perfect for fast and accurate mouse action. It's better then a desk top. I love it! ... show more

  • Better than a cloth mousepad
Size: Mouse Pad Style: Firefly v2 Color: Hard
I've used a number of mousepads since the age of 3. From the old thick foam-esque mousepads of old, to the newer rubber bottomed cloth ones, each degraded quickly over time to the point of needing replacement. My previous mousepad, one from Mionix, did its job fairly well. However, the cloth was a magnet for hair and dust which proved nearly impossible to remove completely. It was time again for a new mousepad. During my search, I stumbled upon the Razer Firefly. While skimming the product page, I was convinced it was just another cloth mousepad that would inevitably need to be replaced, albeit for triple the price I would normally pay. I also wasn't too thrilled by the LEDs around the edges, and nearly passed it up. However, reading a few reviews I discovered that the "hard" version was actually that: a hard mousepad, made out of plastic and rubber. I've used a few plastic mousepads in my time, and not one of them functioned as a surface for a mouse. Tracking issues out the wazoo, an overly slippery surface, and hard edges are the first thing that come to mind. However, impulse buying got the best of me and I ended up grabbing one. This mousepad is legitimately comfortable, to the point that I almost don't even need my wrist rest. It's a bit larger than I thought it would be, and hangs off the edges of the platform I use my mouse on. This is irrelevant however, because the harder material is almost like its own little tabletop. The only give it has comes when you apply unrealistic force, and chances are you would never even notice it in the middle of a game as it doesn't even affect the tracking. The LEDs are actually quite nice, and more subtle than I would have thought considering Razer's previous trends. As for the surface itself, the tracking you get with this mousepad is phenomenal. It's kind of a textured plastic, with the feel comparable to running your fingertips together. With my current mouse, the Razer Basilisk, it's a match made in heaven. There is a bit of a scratchy noise when you move the mouse, almost like running your fingernail across a plastic bottle, that isn't really noticeable unless you listen for it. When you power down your PC, the LEDs fade from your original color (in my case, blue), to purple (may just be me), to off. One of the best. ... show more

  • It's an edgelit arbg mousepad.
Size: Mouse Pad Style: Firefly v2 Color: Hard
This mousepad is not something anyone needs. It functions exactly as well as any other decent quality mousepad and has a fairly good non-slip bottom, but you can find both of these things is cheaper alternatives. No, this is not a mouse pad you buy just because “you need a mouse pad”, this is mouse pad you buy because you have a problem, and that problem is a need for everything you own to glow in a matching color scheme. You buy this to state the ARGB monster that was taken over first our keyboard, and then out mice, and our headsets; our case fans and our motherboards, and GPUs, our CPUs, and AIOs and waterblocks, the backs of our monitors, and our soundbars. You buy this because the RGB monster must be fed, for we no not what happens if it is not, and that is a risk too grave to take. The first one of this I received has some minor manufacturing errors that allowed light to shine through the middle of the mouse pad in little pinprick sized spots, so I definitely recommend checking for imperfections on delivery; they’re very apparent in a dark room, but otherwise, the RGB monster is quiet, and that’s all the really matters right? ... show more

  • Sleek, But Questionable Durability
Size: Mouse Pad Style: Firefly v2 Color: Hard
I purchased this exactly four months ago for my design workstation and, due to the pandemic, its been used very sparingly. It's a great size and I really like the low profile. The lights are fun; but, unfortunately, not able to be customized on a Mac. I was aware of this issue at purchase; although frankly, this is a software compatibility problem that's existed across the product line for some time and should have been long ago been rectified by Razor. For that, I'm deducting a star in the hope that they'll eventually get the memo. Also at issue is the rather startling discovery that I've already begun to experience significant smoothing in the surface texture. Because I am a full time designer and log long hours at my desk, I've experienced this issue on hard mousepads before and it may be somewhat unavoidable with these materials. I had hoped, however, that investing in a "higher end" device would provide better longevity. In this regard, given the fact that its received only light use, the Firefly may have preformed even worse than the basic, non-illuminated- not gaming hard pads I've owned previously. I don't regret the purchase, as it integrates well with my setup; but users should be forewarned that they may not be the owners of an evenly textured mousepad for very long. ... show more

  • I love it
Size: Mouse Pad Style: Firefly v2 Color: Hard
This thing is an amazing improvement off of the first version, the hub at the top being moved to the left is so convenient I haven't knocked into it once with the mouse yet where as I would do it all the time with the original. The texture is much smoother and feels very nice using a mouse on it. The LEDs are much brighter as well so it really pops. If you were a fan of the original you would absolutely love this. ... show more
