This was a great upgrade to my 2003 GMC Sierra factory third brake and cargo light. The comparison pictures show the difference. The RAVSOFT light kit is "smoked" and it still puts out great light. I had already replaced the factory bulbs in the original brake light but had not replaced the cargo lights. This is why there is not a huge difference in the brake light comparison, I think the RAVSOFT light was still an improvement. The big difference was the cargo light, the lights are much brighter than Sylvania Long-Life Mini Bulbs installed when I bought the truck. The original seal on the factory light assembly was non-existent. The RAVSOFT light came with a pre-cut gasket that is thicker and fits perfectly on the install. The kit comes with rubber plugs for the screw holes which is great to protect the cab interior. The installation took about ten minutes (with the pictures), the fit and finish are excellent. I was skeptical about the "smoked" finish but really like the look now that it is installed. Just as a friendly recommendation: When mounting any third brake light assembly, use a hand screwdriver, hand tight is best. I see a lot of folks that over tighten the mounting screws on the third brake light assemblies. This almost always leads to cracks in the older plastics and or will actually break the plastic mounting edge to hold the assembly in place. The next step in that parade is water leaking into the cab. Next time you're cleaning the back window, look for faint trails from water running down across the glass and look for stains in the headliner in the area of the light mount. With better performance at less than half the cost of the "factory replacement" third brake light assembly the RAVSOFT light with excellent light output and improved weather seal is an excellent value! ... show more

It was very easy to install. Two screws to take the old one out and two screw to put the new one in. It did come with instructions on how to install it because it says not to tight the screws too much. Overall I'm happy with the way it looks on my truck.

Recently changed out the taillights on my work truck and wanted to match the cargo lights as well. Literally plug and play and works great. Looks smokey when off but shows the individual LED's when lit. Comes with an internal resistor to avoid the flickering problem associated with LED's. Brake lights are bright but not blinding and the cargo light works better than the traditional halogen bulb style. Looks great and functional in one. Doesn't require bulb replacements since it's an internal LED board. As long as your wiring is good and have a good ground, these should last the lifetime of the truck. ... show more

EDIT: 12/23/23. After a nice rain storm, the housing has condensation. I will leave it at 4 stars for the time being as the entire unit still functions. I have added a picture referencing the condensation on the inside of the lens. I will update if/when things change. If you are looking for a LED replacement on a budget, with smoked lens, this may work for you. The red LED brake light is not as bright as expected, and the cargo light does not disperse to the bed area as well as the OEM housing and bulbs. -Compared the old OEM housing with incandescent bulbs, this is way brighter. -Compared to the old OEM housing with aftermarket LED bulbs, this is not as bright. Things I noticed with this product are: -The instructions are simple, easy to follow. Most people doing this will know how to remove the brake light housing. -Instructions indicate "small washers for the screws that we provided". Mine had the washers, but no screws. -The provided gasket has adhesive tape on one side and it barely fits the housing. It is a pain to put on with the wiring harness as you have to feed the wires through the center of the gasket and hope the gasket does not stick to the housing. -There is no instruction on which way the gasket is supposed to be on the housing. Looking at the cutouts, it can only fit one way but if you are not paying attention and install it upside down good luck removing it. -The gasket is thicker than OEM, and the light housing does sit off the body a bit more. No leaks appeared during a quick washdown with a hose. -The wiring harness has a resistor block that is not secured to the housing, and no provided mounts for installation. Be careful with this as it does get hot. Depending on your year, the headliner backing is exposed and will burn if this sits on it. This installation was super easy. Remove the old one and in with the new light bar. Little to no prep work needed. Stick on the new gasket then Undo the wire connector and attach to new light. The screws aligned correctly. I checked the hookup before screwing everything back in place. Looks great and performs are described. Great replacement choice. ... show more
