  • Portable and Sturdy

It's a fairly stiff rake (the tines), but in our yard with lots of sticks and pine cones, that is not a bad thing. The rake is nicely made and portable. Since we don't plan to store it, the 4-piece handle isn't needed, so we may replace with an old wooden handle. The handle can easily loosen while using it, but as another review stated, that's how it has to be to make it 'adjustable length'. I think it's more for ease of shipping. It's much more difficult to package and ship a rake with a long solid handle. So, if you're looking for a rake that you can shorten the handle by 13" or so, the 4-piece handle is nice, but if you don't want to frequently retighten the joints, get something else. ... show more

  • Good build

I got this for the rake part to use with a wooden handle I have. Those multi-part screw together handles never stay tight, but that's how they have to do it to make them easier to ship. The rake end fit neatly on my wooden handle, with holes in the metal for nails, and now I have a pretty good rake. This rake has shorter tines so it's kind of like a hybrid between a leaf rake (long, flexible tines) and a garden rake (short, hard metal). If you need to pass over rocks, get a long flexible tine rake. Rakes up heavier stuff but still has a bounce. This one seems solidly built, not flimsy at all. ... show more
