  • Nice design, but SOFT metal!
I really like the design and price of this item and it works well. However, be aware that the cast iron is VERY soft on the ripper blade! As you can see in the photo, the blade bent (I only had it in the ground a few inches) and caused the finish to flake off. I got the job done, but I have never seen cast iron that thick bend in the "wide" direction! If it had not bent, I would have given it 5 stars. I don't know if I'll use it again or not. The angle when mounted is a bit off now. ... show more

  • Bent the first time I used it
Note the UPDATE below my initial review. If the hook were more aggressive, it might work better. Then again, it bent on the first use so, if the hook were more aggressive, it would have likely bent even more than it did! The typical lift arms on a tractor's 3-point hitch doesn't have any down-force; it relies on gravity. It has a hard time staying in the ground; it wants to keep riding up to where it only scratches the surface. I'm about 250 lbs and I had to stand on it while someone else drove the tractor. Even with the extra weight, it still rides right up out of the ground. I was not impressed. UPDATE: While the part didn't do what I had hoped, the seller made it right by refunding my purchase. I provided photos and they're planning on passing them along to the engineering team. I'm hoping future designs/materials will be better. For their customer service, they've most certainly earned some extra (review) credit! ... show more

  • Product support is top notch
One of the few sellers who actually listens to customers. The ripper didn’t work out too well in my case I purchased it for specifically as I was working tough compacted soil with lots of tree roots. The soil was never worked previously between tree rows. However for soil that’s been worked or for use in area without significant roots this would work just fine. ... show more

  • Not so great. Unless the ground is 100% level, forget it.
Alright, folks, get ready for a real downer of a review. This is Lenny Bruce here, bringing you a less-than-stellar take on the Racewill Hitch Lawn Mounted Ripper for ATV/UTV. Strap in, 'cause it's gonna be a bumpy ride. Now, let me start by saying this contraption is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. I mean, seriously, what were they thinking? The Racewill Hitch Lawn Mounted Ripper promises to revolutionize your gardening game, but all it really does is make a mockery of the very concept of digging a small trench. First of all, let's talk about the design. It looks like a Frankenstein's monster of metal and janky engineering. It's an eyesore, plain and simple. And when it comes to functionality, well, let's just say it's more likely to rip your hair out than actually dig into the soil. Speaking of digging, this thing couldn't penetrate a paper bag if its life depended on it. I tried using it on my lawn, hoping for some sort of groundbreaking miracle, but all I got was disappointment. It barely scratched the surface, leaving my soil as hard and unyielding as my ex-wife's heart. And don't even get me started on the attachment process. Whoever designed this monstrosity must have been having a laugh. It's like a puzzle from hell, with bolts and screws that seem to have a mind of their own. It took me far too long just to get the darn thing assembled , and by the time I was done, I was ready to call it quits and go back to good old-fashioned elbow grease. But perhaps the biggest insult of all is the price tag. This abomination of a lawn tool costs an arm and a leg, and let me tell you, it's not worth a fraction of that. I'd sooner throw my money in a blender than spend it on this sorry excuse for a ripper. So, there you have it, folks, my brutally honest review of the Racewill Hitch Lawn Mounted Ripper for ATV/UTV. Save your time, save your money, and save yourself the headache. This thing is a comedy of errors, a tragicomic tale of wasted potential. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your gardening needs. Trust me, your lawn will thank you. ... show more

  • Not enough adjustable holes in bar at correct spacing. It is really not meant for a lawn tractor
Could not use the last hole because there was no other hole to put the pan in to hold it in place. It would have been nice if more holes were drilled so that you had a longer range of adjustment. You need to dig a hole to lower ripper into ground before you start.

  • Well made
Received in good condition. Comes with assembly hardware. For the price, not too shabby. It is TIG welded and looks tidy. Should do well in soft soil. In rocky terrain, I have doubts. All hardware is low grade 8.8 metric and should shear before the major parts suffer harm. Best application would be a small tractor with 3-point receiver attachment for trenching or plowing. Intended purpose for this purchase is to trench for water lines to a garden. Should do. ... show more
