  • Ok but the mic needs improvement
Color: Black
I, like many others, purchased these because of the good price point and decent reviews. I’ve been flying with this headset for a year and, now that I’m licensed, am researching getting another set for a passenger. I was looking at the obvious upgrades, Bose and Lightspeed, but think I’d rather spend that money on fuel. I like this headset ok, but the mic isn't terribly sensitive and I find that I have to restart many conversations as the first few words weren’t picked up. Going to do more research, but it’d be hard to buy another one of these with this issue. I don’t want my pax to feel like communicating is an issue. Especially if they’re nervous. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for.
All in all they are a decent headset for the money. I bought them to use while as a student pilot so I didn’t have to keep renting a pair from the flight school. They are pretty sturdy but I get a lot of other pilots telling me I’m very quiet on the radio regardless of which plane I’m flying. after a couple of hours, they will start to be uncomfortable as well but that’s not a huge issue. They have an auxiliary port which is nice but I’ve never tested it out. Overall if you’re flying for less than a couple hours at a time or don’t mind yelling over the radio then it’s a decent set. I will keep them for my passengers to use. EDIT: After posting the initial review the seller contacted me and sent me a free mic piece replacement which was easy to swap over by the use of two small flat-head screws. The replacement is a completely different part and is larger than the original. It isn't too big to be an issue or even be very noticeable. I have taken it up once since and it seems to have improved the audio volume and the other pilot agreed that I am much clearer now. TL;DR: If you buy this headset and other pilots have issues hearing you, it just needs the mic replaced. ... show more

  • Very good bang for your buck !
Color: Black
Just received this new headset to review. Looks very nice and feels well constructed, should last a long time. It's very comfortable, specially the ear seals. They seal out noise without squeezing your head so they should be comfortable for long trips. It also has one of the more important things today, an integrated port to connect your iPad. No need to connect via Bluetooth, just plug in the included cable and you're ready to go. Your passenger will love it on long flights so she can watch YouTube videos and movies if she gets tired of looking outside. With the installed volume control, you can adjust the aircraft intercom volume on the headset and adjust the volume of your iPad independent of each other. Now you can also get those obstacles or airspace warnings from your EFB apps like WingX or Garmin Pilot or FlightplanGO !! I'll update after I fly with them and I'll also get my student's opinion of them. UPDATE on 10 APR 2019 : I flew yesterday in both my RV-8 airplane at 204 MPH and in my open cockpit AutoGyro MTO Sport at 75 MPH and in both it kept noise levels down, the intercom worked perfectly, and communications with ATC was great. I'll recommend these headsets to my students and to my friends who are looking for something economical and don't need ANR headsets. ... show more

  • Mike is cutting out with ATC
Color: Grey
This is a good head set except the mike has started to cut out when talking to ATC. I have only been using the head set for just over a month. Perhaps a good back up head set but currently unreliable mike.

  • Great for the cost
Color: Black
Works fantastic. Great alternative to more expensive ones, especially for novice pilots and students.

  • Good headset, mic problems.
Color: Grey
I loved the headset, until I plugged in to the plane the first time and tried to talk to my instructor. I had to place the mic on my lips and shout into the microphone, and yet there were still dropped words. I was supposed to be starting my comms with ground and tower on this flight, but that's now pushed back to another lesson. Still, the aux port played music perfectly and cut in and out with other radio chatter. The speakers are great! Plus, the headset was super comfortable, and you really can't beat their price. ... show more

  • Worth the price, good customer support.
Color: Grey
I bought these for flight training because of the bargain price. They worked great for my first flight, I could clearly hear my CFI and other traffic call outs. The volume is a tiny bit low but it doesn’t really affect communications. The noise reduction isn’t the greatest but it’s not that bad either considering the price. I still felt very comfortable with the noise level. These are a bargain for the price and the seller has been in constant contact to make sure everything is ok since my purchase which I really appreciate, I’m confident if any issues come up the seller will take care of them which is very reassuring. I also purchased the Spider Wireless Kneeboard and I’m very satisfied with that too, I’m pretty impressed with Spider Wireless. For people just starting flight training trying to save money Spider Wireless presents a great cost effective option. If anything should change I will update my review accordingly. ... show more

  • Microphone Failed but Received a Speedy Replacement
I have used this headset six times now and the first four times it worked fine, but the last two times (after having it for only two months) the microphone has proved to be quite faulty. I have tried it now on different days in different airplanes and the microphone keeps cutting out. Sometimes I will talk for ten seconds or more without the microphone catching me talking. I messed with it for a while, eventually taking off the cover to see if that helped (it did not). The headphone quality itself is decent, but they’re not Bose quality or anything. Update: After searching and emailing back and forth for a while I finally got a replacement mic piece that was easy to pop in. It was a slightly different size and shape than the original, but with the foam cover you wouldn’t know it. The problem, so far, seems fixed, so I have updated my rating accordingly. The hassle of the mic issue and the less-than-perfect headphone quality is why it doesn’t quite make the 5 star quality in my book. That being said, it’s a decent value versus the other ones on the market. ... show more
