I wanted a cowboy hat to wear while horse back riding for sun protection but didn't want to spend $ 100-$150. And I'm too busy to go into a western wear store and look for a hat. So I took a gamble and ordered this one, hoping it'd fit and look decent. It does. It's very cute on. The sizing is weird though. I wear a size 7 hat, which is generally considered a medium. But I got the large/extra large and that fits perfectly. If I'd gone for a small/medium, it would have been too tight. If you are looking for a straw cowboy hat and you're on a budget, this is a great option. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the price dropped by 37% right after I ordered it and Amazon wouldn't give me a credit for the difference. Hat came and the rear of brim was bent. I boiled a pot of water, used the steam to warm it up and formed it so it's normal and fixed. Has a plastic smell to it when I opened and was stronger while steaming. I question it being straw, more plastic feeling. I can get an Ariat straw for $40 but not in black so wanted to try this one. I wear a 7 1/4 and the large fits well. It's an elastic band. So over all, don't expect a high quality hat, but it's fine for the money ---- steam will fix the creases, be patient ... show more

Is advertised as: Elastic, Canvas, Felt, and Straw. The hat is plastic to the touch. The style looks good, but the material is not what I expected. I thought I was getting better quality by spending a bit more.
