  • I love- brother hates
So I bought this as a gift for my niece (4 at the time). When I was a little kid, a friend had something similar and we played with it for HOURS. I thought this was a great toy - science and music all in one. You can put it together in different ways and it makes different sounds. So a win for an engaging fun toy. Now I feel inclined to give my brother's side of the story. Shortly after giving this great toy that my niece and nephew loved, my brother posted on Facebook this "Sometimes its wonderful that my sister lives nearby and can be such a big part of their life, and sometimes she drops off a bag of whistles and leaves." To be fair, they are not a bag of whistles, but there are TWO mouth pieces. And the sounds the mouthpieces make are sort of horrible to the ear in the absence of the other tubing. Of course, I don't have to listen to it non -stop, so I still think it is a great toy. Just be aware that it is loud and can get annoying - particularly when they realize how much louder it is without the tubing on it. ... show more

  • 2 year old loves it
I have only ever seen little kids playing with the saxo flute. Like really little kids... 2yo. I'm sure they still play with it when they are the recommended age but I just don't want people to miss out on seeing a two year old try to figure out how to get it to toot. I bought two of these for the two 2 year olds I knew in 2022 This is a great toy for creative tiny humans. ... show more

  • Great toy, quality control issue easily fixed
I read the reviews before buying this for Christmas and noticed some people had issues with the Saxoflute not playing sound as it should, but others had no troubles. Decided to take a chance and get it, as I played with one when I was little and loved it. Sure enough, we got a 'defective' set, and my three year old nephew couldn't get any sound out of it. My teen son and I examined the mouthpieces and discovered a thin plastic film in the top opening of the mouthpiece that looked like it leaked during the molding process. This bit of plastic was easily removed with fingers or tweezers, and then the Saxoflute played beautifully. It makes a strong sound just like a recorder, and can be modulated with the fingerhole section of piping. My nephew loved building and playing on his Saxoflute (his older cousins enjoyed it also) and I'm glad we didn't have to return it. ... show more

  • Wow! These are a hit!
I bought a few of the sets this brand makes that are interchangeable. More pieces means much more possibilities. The plastic is very durable. Some of the pieces don’t fit together very tightly. If they weren’t so pricey, I’d probably buy even more sets! Kiddo builds these epic musical instruments and uses them for various imaginative play. Highly recommend for a gift! ... show more

  • Versatile
Good toy that holds interest because it can be rebuilt so many ways. Even two can play at once. Really cute. They loved it.

  • Great toy! Great idea!
Wow. I can't say enough about this toy. My kids, ages three and six, absolutely love this. It is a genius idea, and perfect for a child with or without musical ability. My children like to take marble runs and make their own pretend instruments out of them, so I knew this would be a hit. It is well-made, and priced well. This would make a great birthday gift for a boy or a girl ages four through six. ... show more

  • Very cool toy. Cats "love" it.
This is an excellent product. Something to think about first: give a child that makes noise and they are going to find a way to make it noisier. I bought this for my three year old and she loves it! However, she is definitely too young to understand that the objective is to make it sound good. She just blows as hard as she can and it sounds like a miniature vuvuzela. The parts are made of durable, brightly colored plastic and they fit together and pull apart well. There are more than enough pieces for two people to make two different instruments and play together. ... show more

  • very fun, durable, built to last. Made in Italy
We have several sets combined so that more creative instruments can be made. which is good also because some of the pieces have become misplaced over time... Have had this for a little over 3 years. My 5 year old still plays with it so I think it is good for wide age range. Love that the plastic is very strong and is not cheaply made. Very good quality, Made in Italy It does make several different notes if you know how to play it and put your fingers on the right holes. But don't expect most kids to know this. Don't buy it thinking you're going to get to hear some great songs. Rather, you're going to get to see some funny looking instruments (that produce few notes) - Great for kids who love to build stuff! ... show more
