It came with a letter opener can easily open the plastic bag it came in. (Will come in handy for cutting tape and gift wrap!) This is a very thick and cushioned mattress. It comes rolled up in a box. They, thankfully, include a safe slicer to undo the ship wrapping which is very thick to hold it together. It unravels with authority so make sure you have space when it unfolds rapidly! It fluffs up nearly immediately but we let it sit a day to make sure it completely expanded before using it. We got this for a bunk in a camp. Before opening, it fit in the backseat of a car to transport- can’t do that with a regular twin size mattress. Comfort is great and it looks completely normal after a couple of days.
