  • Aside from a terrible TN LCD panel for the display, The DigDug 1/4 scale machine is amazing...
Color: Dig Dug
The emulation is excellent, and the machine is very well made. The cabinet build and marquee look fantastic. The joystick and buttons are plenty responsive enough for this game. The only major downside to this machine is the rather terrible TN LCD panel; they weren't designed for vertical orientation, so off-axis viewing is absolutely terrible. That alone knocked a star off my review - based on the MSRP, it really should have used an IPS panel. ... show more

  • Other than the box being damaged in shipping, item is great!
Color: Dig Dug
This goes well with my other Quarter Arcades! Its a bit taller than my PacMan and Galaga machines, but that's how they were in the full size. Pros: -Sound is controlled via knob in back, not software which I appreciate -Joystick input is quick, no noticeable lag -Screen image quality is crisp and clean Cons: -My screen (even with the plastic screen protector) has some scratches which show up dramatically or are hard to see depending on what angle you are looking at the screen. Misc: -Wish Quarter Arcade would come out with the 1/4 size coin machine (usb hub) like the 1/6 sized for the other brand/series. -Wish Quarter Arcade would come out with accessories to go with the machines (stools, etc.) ... show more

  • Horrible build quality
Color: Dig Dug
I bought the Dig Dug cabinet. When it arrived, I immediately knew something was wrong since I could hear something rattling around inside the cabinet. When I plugged it in, I was able to turn on the game and play, but the charging LED alternated flashing red and green and it didn't seem to be charging. I took off the back panel and found the source of both the rattling and the charging problem: a plastic bracket that is supposed to secure the internal battery was never installed! So both the loose bracket and the battery (which had come loose from the circuit board) were just ratting around inside. There were drill holes where the bracket was supposed to be screwed in, but no screws (not even loose ones), so it was obviously shipped that way from the factory. I found some suitable screws to secure the bracket myself and plugged the battery back in and it seems to be working now, but what a hassle! Manufacturing QA failure aside, the design of the controls seems pretty flimsy. The joystick is a cheap-feeling stick of plastic that clicks loudly when moved. Input is laggy and inaccurate. Compared to the much better-quality New Wave Toys mini arcade cabinets, this one from Numskull feels like a toy. Having said that, the cabinet does look nice and the speakers have good volume. It'll make a nice display piece now that I finished building it for the factory, but I don't think it'll stand up to much playtime. ... show more

  • Great Novelty Appeal; Not So Great Technical Application
Color: Pac-man
I grew up with Pac-Man and have owned quite a few mini replicas and arcade style remakes over the years, and this one seemed to be a standout. Yes, in appearance this arcade replica really is something of a conversation piece and I love having it on my shelf. I am very pleased with the construction, and the quality of the materials and detail, even going so far as including the air vents on the back, the light up marquee, and the coin return slots are hollowed out, almost as if a real mini quarter could fall into it from the coin slot. Very impressive reproduction However, I also bought it for the gameplay (probably more than anything) and the unit I received is lack in a few areas. Could be my ignorance, and if so, I do apologize for including them in the review. First, the game play is glitchy. The image is great, but the has a "skip" quality to it every 15 seconds or so...similar to a buffering audio clip that catches up to itself and stops for a spilt second then picks up where it's supposed to be. Again, just on the audio, the image seems to do well. Second, the dip switch settings. The game begins with five pacmen and extra life at 15,000. As a purist, it would be neat to be able to adjust these down to three and the extra at 10,000 like you can do on the actual unit. This in itself is not a detractor as it doesn't affect the game play, just worth noting, and something I would like to have know ahead of time. On the plus side, I am impressed with the joystick control. For as small as it is, I assumed it would be frail, and clumsy, but it's very sharp and responsive, and that is a huge plus (for me). All in all, I think this is a fine product, and I lean to the more middle of the road due to the technical issues I've encountered in the game play. Thanks for reading! ... show more

  • I love it.
Color: Polybius
I've wanted to have an arcade cabinet, but didn't have the space, so I compromised with this and it looks amazing

  • If you like old arcade games this is for you.
Color: Dig Dug
The media could not be loaded. The picture and description say it all. This is a lovingly recreated 1/4 scale arcade machine - designed to look and feel just like the original. And Numskull has done an outstanding job. The original game roms are used and gameplay is identical to the arcade version. Even the marquees light up. One caution: because these are a quarter-sized replication, the joysticks and buttons are not designed to take the pounding that a full-sized cabinet can take. As such, when using, the player does need to treat the controls with care. All in all, a wonderful bit of nostalgia for folks like me that dearly miss the arcades. ... show more

  • Almost like the arcade
Color: Pac-man
I have been playing many different home versions of Pac Man, this one is the best. First of all, the sound is exactly like the real thing. I also don’t have any complain about the look and the outward appearance. It looks very good on my table. The joystick control is quite accurate when guiding Pac Man to where you want. Sometimes Pac Man may seem to have a mind of his own, overall, the control is good. In the arcade version, there is a spot on the maze that when Pac Man stays there, the ghosts will not chase him. This funtion is for the players to take a brake if needed. However, it doesn’t work on this version. That’s why I said is it almost like the arcade. ... show more
