Use a post mount that comes up the sides as well as the bottom.
Easy enough to use, needed to use very long screws and still had issues with post sturdiness. If I were to do it again I would use mounts with sides so they could be connected both sides and bottom. I am not going to change them at this point they will suffice.

Make sure the post are flat cut and square, otherwise very good.

These provided the best solution for my deck. I was able to put my posts in exactly where I wanted them to make it even distances between them. I wish they where a little bit stronger though.

Perfect for adding a 3 1/2×3 1/2 post on a wood deck.
Make sure screws are centered in post leaving enough room to attach post to deck.

Not for high traffic areas
I would not recommend this bracket for areas of high traffic or a railing application. The sturdiness is just not there for me. Better brackets out there for high traffic. This bracket is good if you have a post that will need endure a lot of stress.

Drilling accurate holes in concrete is challenging.

Pylex 10830 fixplak 44 Deck Connector is excellent
Had to mount 4 X 4 posts to an existing deck to brace up some railing that was a little shaky. These things locked those posts down better than the original post mounts. Highly recommended. The day I rebuild this deck I'll use them on all the posts.
