We got this ice bath to set up next to our hot tub for hot/cold therapy after long days of working around the farm. Sadly, our hot tub quit just when this arrived and we haven't replaced it yet. But when my husband and son participated in a 45 mile gravel bicycle race in September, we knew just what our son needed to stave off the muscle soreness he usually experiences. We loaned this ice bath to him and he set it up next to his hot tub. He used it several days in a row after the race and never had any muscle pain. He would soak in the ice, then jump into the hot tub and soak there for a while. The relief was much greater than when he soaked only in the hot tub after previous workouts. He reported that the water is easy to keep cold by draining some by way of the upper valve and adding more ice. And it's easy to keep fresh by draining any sediment with the lower valve. We're in the process of replacing our hot tub, so I am looking forward to getting this set up at our house and enjoying the same therapeutic benefits.     • I'm not an athlete but I love this tub
Hot sticky days of summer are just yuck, but chores like mowing and weeding still must be done - thank goodness for this plunge tub that eliminates my sweatiness and soreness. It's better than a shallow kiddie pool - I can sort of float, feeling weightless, in the deep water. From time to time, I enjoy a shower beverage after a long hot day - I can do that with this tub, too, and it's nice to be outdoors and enjoy the view. I left it up and filled for several weeks and it warmed up a little, which was also nice. When I put it away the 2 drain system made it easy to completely empty.     • Perfect affordable way to get into cold plunge!
I have been interested in getting into doing cold plunge for therapy. There are so many DIY options that still run into several hundred dollars and barrels that approach four digits. This is a simple solution and it's perfect! I'm 5'9" 180 lbs and this is the perfect amount of volume. The bigger the tank, the more water you use and more difficult to cool down. With some synthetic ice molds I can produce blocks of ice for cheap and use with this plunge. It comes with a nice cover to keep the debris and bugs out. The water does become rancid after few days so you still have to either drain after few uses or use some method to keep the water bacteria free. I found a UV light filter for large aquarium that seems to be effective, but I still rotate the water after several plunge to stay safe. Overall, easy to set up, portable, and inexpensive while being effective. ... show more

    • Not just cool...ice cold!
I was visiting a friend when I noticed that he had an ice plunge in his home. We started talking about it and he attests to the health benefits that he's notice from doing it regularly. I decided to start trying it too but I didn't want a permanent set up that he had. His was wooden and took up space. I decided to get this portable one and give it a go on a trial basis. The first couple of plunges were really cold and almost unbearable. But you get use to it after a few plunges. I have to admit that it does seem to increase my energy to be able to last the day. It especially feels good during these hot summer days. And I love that I can break down the plunge tub and put it away when not in use, freeing up space in my patio.     • Doesn't work well
Not sure if I received a defective item or not. The 6 poles were difficult to insert but that means no room for shirting while in use. I can't get it to be a circle though. The lid is the same way & won't actually fit on the tub. The stretchy cover is the only way to cover it. I'm okay with that as we were mainly using it as an ice chest for my grandson's birthday party. It did keep ice for hours but not sure I'd trust this as a bath without having a sturdy ladder to get in and out of the tub. ... show more

    • Great entry level ice bath
I had always wanted to try one of these. Once I found out about all the benefits you might get, I decided to finally get one. Why did I wait so long!!! This thing is amazing, it was super easy to put together and took about 5 minutes to fill up, if that. You really need to get those big brick ice cube trays or have access to an ice machine if you want to get the full benefit of a good, cold dunk. The inner seal is pretty nice and does a decent job of keeping the water cool even in the sun. I've used it 3 times now and I go from most of my body aching to feeling refreshed with almost no aches after a 3 - 5 minute soak. If you've been on the fence because you're not sure if it's worth it, let me tell you, coming from an older athlete that is now paying the price of putting my body through the ringer, an ice plunge is very much worth it to me! ... show more
