I wish they didn't smell as much, but I work in mental health with a very low-income/high-risk population and these provide me with assurance that I haven't just contracted some kind of infectious disease. A lot of my clients have hepatitis, STI's, colds, flu, chronic illnesses, and while I'm not particularly germophobic at home I think it's just a smart precaution to take when you spend a lot of time around people who share needles and have unprotected sex and make really poor life choices. I can be somewhat reckless myself sometimes - I do a lot of stuff outdoors, and sometimes have tiny open cuts on my hands, which of course is an excellent way to catch an STI without actually having fun in the process. I know it's a very low probability, but it's still possible, technically. I am probably contributing significantly to the rise of resistant super-strains of bacteria, and I do think about that from time to time...it doesn't stop me from applying this to my hands approximately 10-12 times on any given work day. I think about the long term effects - will it make my hands wrinkly? I don't know, but it keeps the HIV away. ... show more
