  • beautiful horror otome
I loved every minute of it. Beautiful, richly detailed visuals and haunting music help give this game a surreal sense of dread. Isolation and danger hang over the mansion the story is set in, but without gore, jumpscares, and the MC getting assaulted, it's a pleasantly mild horror experience. There are a lot of sweet moments between all of the characters, mostly in the extra scenes, but it's an undeniably tragic story no matter what. The length to finishing the game completely felt about right at 24 or so hours. The characters are all sympathetic, even if they might not be likeable to the player. It doesn't minimize the themes it goes for or make them perfectly fixed in the end. What makes this a little less than five stars (but I wouldn't lower it to four): there's unnecessary homophobia in a few scenes of the game (played for laughs), and the localization is careless. I've seen Much Worse, but I've also seen Much Better. One of the final endings (involving takuya) is riddled with errors, and it really took from the experience. so, wonderful: - sympathetic characters - commitment to the tragic themes it presents - beautiful music and visuals (really standing out on the vita screen) - a mild horror experience relying on dread Less Great: - localization is noticeably careless (but not the worst) - unnecessary homophobic comments for laughs Might Have Been My Fault: - I recommend making multiple different saves despite the auto-save system, because I got stuck a few times with a non-functional flowchart. It was fixed each time by going to a different save, without overriding anything. I got a cheap used copy and it worked great, so don't be afraid to just try it at a lower price! ... show more

  • AMAZING Otome Game
Wow, I am in love with this game. It has become my 2nd favorite otome of all time. Just a heads up though, this game is very bittersweet and at times very sad and depressing. If you want an otome that constantly makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, this isn't the game for you. Anyways, here are some of my pros and cons: PROS: - Intriguing mystery story - Great twists - Beautiful art and music - Like-able characters (seriously, I love them all) with great designs - Great protagonist - Amazing voice acting - The protagonist actually has voice acting! (But, it can be disabled if you don't want it.) - The game is constantly using many effects like: moving the camera around, screen shakes, moving the character sprites all over the place, etc. Which, in my opinion, makes the characters feel much more lively. (It's a bit hard to explain, but you'll understand what i mean once you play the game.) - There's a flowchart system which makes getting all the endings super easy. CONS: - Technically, there's only 1 bad ending in the game (I like my bad ends!) But, some of the endings are so sad to where they feel like bad endings, so that makes up for it a bit I guess. - I'm not a fan of the Butterfly Hunt mini-game. I found it annoying to play. - There's little romance. (The game heavily favors story over romance.) But, there's still a LOT of cute moments. - Some translation errors here and there, but it didn't bother me much Overall, I love this game! If you like dark/sad otome games and don't mind that it focuses more on story than romance, then I recommend you check it out. ... show more

  • Mystery, Horror, and so much more...
Amazing game. I got a platinum on this game in less than two days playing. I am commenting on my husband's account as he purchased this game for me but I am the one who played and thoroughly enjoyed it. The art, and story are very intense. While cliche at points, it goes beyond the stereotypical, and actually embraces some of the more difficult aspects of making a game like this. NOT everyone can have a happy ending (by the nature of the otome and even more broadly harem dating sim genre) and it kind of runs with that idea, there is a feeling of loss or the potential for loss even in the 'happy' ends. The romance part is more emotional and the CG's are not too risque; they are in line with traditional otome games that leave a lot to the imagination. The art is gripping and unique during regular gameplay, blending different styles for the characters and background. It's fairly dark too in terms of the transformation sequences and the pain inflicted on various characters both physically and psychologically in their background stories/scenes. The inclusion of the mini game is pretty cool for a visual novel type game and easy enough to master that it doesn't make it hard on players who are not experienced with shooter games. There were a few minor typographical translation errors. Nothing extremely major that made it unplayable or took away any of the story/tone. Just a few minor mess ups. ... show more
