  • Saved my ass
I had this on when I fell off my MTB and landed ass first on some rocks. I was left with a hematoma the size of a grapefruit, but I'm sure if I wasn't wearing this I would have broken my sacrum.

  • Fantastic compression fit with padding in all the right places
Size: X-Small
There are so many manufacturers and designs to choose from, I was getting serious decision fatigue doing my research. I'm learning to snowboard and needed padding that was beefy enough to protect me but still fit under my pants. These were absolutely perfect: the tailbone padding tucks under far enough, the sit bone padding hits right where I have no fat, the hip padding protects my greater trochanter, the fit is comfortably compressive over my legging while still allowing for freedom of movement. No velcro that can snag my smartwool baselayer, no extra hardware at the belly that would create discomfort under my snow pants. I took the drawstrings out because the fit was so good I would never need it. All this for less than $25, very satisfied! For reference I'm 5'4" 107 lbs and size XS was perfect and these feel true to size. ... show more

  • Returned it since not effective
The padding does mot feel effective in protecting my butt (feeling too thin to me). I returned it. The product packaging also look very “casual”.

  • Itchy
It seems like good safety equipment. Now, I understand what the little girl meant about it being itchy. I actually wore my pajama shorts underneath the padding shorts so that I would not have to return them. It is something about the mesh or the type of thread used to sew it. Other than that they fit okay and seem like they will save my bottom when I fall, not if, but when. ... show more

  • Sizing runs large and weird padding placement on hip.
I ordered a MEDIUM but I should have ordered a SMALL. I am 5’6” and 160lbs with an athletic build. I wear a 30 waist. I bought these for snowboarding. Like I said it runs large so the compression isn’t as tight as I would like to be. The padding feels nice and thick, the padded parts are probably about 3/4” thick. And the material it’s made out of seems to be good quality. My only gripe is that it feels like I’m wearing a big dirty diaper. Like it’s hanging off my butt. But that may be because it’s larger than I would have liked. Also, the side padding is placed too far forward. This was supposed to protect my hip bone if I fell forward, but it seems like it’s more to protect impact on your quads. Which doesn’t really help because you don’t fall on your quads when you snowboard, you fall on your hip or butt. So ideally, I wish it was stitched maybe an inch closer to the hip instead of forward. When I fall, in directly on my hip and not on the padding which kinda sucks. The place where the “zipper” is is made out of Velcro by the way. I’m sure it will do just fine falling on my butt, but the missing hip protection is what bothers me the most. ... show more

  • A little scratchy, but still have some stretch
Size: Medium
I’m about 178lbs, 5”6 and ordered a medium based on other reviews. I’ve got a big booty/thighs, so they are pretty snug, but still have enough stretch for maneuvering in them. VERY high waisted -hit above my bellybutton. The waistband is stretchy but much tighter on me, as I’ve got a round and tubby belly, so if you’ve got a belly keep that in mind, lol! I feel like a large would’ve been too big/moving around, and I’d rather them be tight than chafing. There is mesh venting on the inner thighs, though, and the seams are very scratchy and uncomfortable, I see why another girl said she wears leggings underneath. Pretty decent for the price, though! ... show more

  • Extremely high waistline
Size: Medium
On last year's snowboarding trip, I fell hard on my tailbone on my first run and the pain lasted a couple weeks. I just returned from a 3 day trip with these padded shorts. I feel like they protected me as designed, though I don't know for sure if any of my falls this year would have caused the same type of injury as last year. Other reviews indicate that these run bigger than the indicated size. I am 5'11" and normally wear medium pants/shorts (32" waist). I ordered medium and I believe I got the correct size. The legs, hip, and butt areas of the shorts fit nicely and the pads are not uncomfortable. Where I deducted stars from the rating, however, is the design of the waistline. In order to get the rest of the shorts positioned correctly, the waistline has to be pulled up uncomfortably high - above my bellybutton where I would never normally wear any type of pants. the waistline of these shorts sits at least 4 inches above my underwear and my snowboard pants. It just seems like there an unnecessary amount of fabric building up the height of the waistline above where the top of the shorts were intended to be. ... show more
