Scent: Wood and Spice
This is the first beard lotion/balm I've ever tried. And it is very soothing to the skin under my beard. Also, the scent (wood & spice) is excellent. I can't say enough about the product. However, the glass bottle and plastic cap are exceedingly lacking. I cannot get the cap to securely tighten on the bottle. I twist it clockwise until it is tight. But, the cap backs off after I let go. When I go to pick it up again, the cap is loose! Took it on a trip with me. And fortunately I put it in a plastic zip up bag. The product leaked out into the back during the trip. Very disappointing. If you are not worried about it drying out, which I don't think it will, it is fine to sit on your bathroom vanity or medicine cabinet shelf. But, it is not travel-friendly. For this reason, I have to take away one star from a perfect 5 rating. ... show more

I took a chance buying this without smelling it first and I'm glad I did. This is quite different than the other Proraso skin care products that I've bought. The only familiar Proraso scent is the Eucalyptus note found in the green, however this one is much more pleasing to me. It's kind of like the woodsy Halston scent meets Proraso Eucalyptus, with a touch of Geo F Trumper Sandalwood to round it out. This may sound like a bit much, but it's very balanced and masculine. What I like the most is it's not overly sweet like Trumper's. I know it's a beard balm, but while growing my beard, I found it didn't help much in terms of stopping irritation. However, once I took the beard off I found it useful as an aftershave. My skin feels soft, not dry, and protected without any annoying residue or film on your skin. This is a balm, and is thicker than the splash. It's texture and consistency is similar to Proraso Blue Balm. The one issue is the bottles cap. It doesn't seem to stay tight. This seems to be the case with all the newer bottles that have the cap with the black matte finish. I didn't have this issue with the bottles from a couple of years back. It's just a thought if you're going to pack this away in your travel bag, as it could leak. I will be buying more of this when I run out. ... show more

I love the scent and how it gets rid of beard itch. I used it even when my beard got a little longer and it kept things neat and smelling great. I would buy again.

I just like this product and its fragrance because it brings back memories which is a bonus I think. Nothing beats getting a great shave at the barber, and when your finished a nice after shave balm. It feels good on my skin and in my beard which is why I buy it.

I tried this to experience the scent after having already tried the "Wood and Spice" one. This one is definitely a little more potent in my opinion, but smells of grass (fresh cut, dry - not the wet moldy kind) and tress/cypress like the name says. It lasts through the day, but definitely starts off pretty strong, so you don't need much As far as controlling beard itch and conditioning the hair/face - it does a fantastic job. I used to use just Witch Hazel post shave and that worked, but didn't last through the day like this does. Technically, its not an after shave anyway, but can definitely be used as one. Its like leave in conditioner for your beard that doesn't make it all shiny like some balms. Definintely Proraso quality as with many of their other shaving supplies. ... show more
