  • A great start for any arcade enthusiast!
If you are looking to have an arcade cabinet, but you just don't know where to begin and want all the information on hand, this book is the way to go! It tells you just about everything you need to know about building/buying a cabinet and the parts/hardware/software/etc. It provides some advice, tips, and options. Heck, the disc that is included even has plans to build your own Ultimate Arcade 2 cabinet. (The plans itself is right here: [...].asp and they cost about $30, so you're getting a heck of a deal by buying this book instead!) So even if you're lacking on handyman experience (although I still recommend having at least one guy who knows his/her way around power tools), you can collect some supplies and build your own! Or just buy an assembly kit, or a whole cabinet, or... even an existing cabinet! May it be just a shell, the actual arcade cabinet, or what is left of the cabinet! I am getting ahead myself. My point is, everything you need to know about owning an arcade cabinet is covered in this book. Please check it out. You will be glad you did! ... show more

  • Great Starting Point and Lots of Ideas
Searching the internet you will find volumes of information about building a cabinet of your own - this book is a great starting point that covers one way, start to finish, of how to make a cabinet. It adds a lot of information about controls, materials and options. In the end YOU have to decide what you want to have as a finished project. Look through the book, follow up on the internet - Take what you like, leave the rest behind. You don't really "NEED" the book - but I'd say it's a great reference that can help you decide if you want to dive in and start a project of your own, and show you what you need to consider. ... show more

  • Hits on all marks
Saint did exactly what I expected and then some. I am confident that, should I choose to construct my own arcade game, I either have the requisite skills and knowledge or can find answers to the questions that will certainly reveal themselves. The only downside I'd the lack of color images in the book. I am happy they were included on the CD, however. Well spent money and time reading! ... show more

  • Forget Kindle edition, buy the hard copy and get the AWESOME CD!!!
The hard copy comes with a CD that has many great files. Full of layouts, vector cabinet art, and cabinet blueprints to scale. Also many links to suppliers and artists to get a great looking game cabinet. The added price does mean some serious added value. Step by step, and like the author suggests read it all the way through before you start or jump into a project. Things really do make more sense by reading the book in its entirety first. This is a goldmine of information for any skill level. Software wise I am at 99% complete, now the woodworking begins! ... show more

  • Build your own arcade book
The book covers most of the topics that anyone would be interested in, when investigating build of a arcade machine. Being an engineer, I am not interested in a lot of fluff, and I would prefer the condensed version of this text. I am sure that many people would find this text to be exactly what they wanted, although the content is a bit dated. ... show more

  • Perfect for the potential MAME Arcade Cabinet Builder.
I am really glad I purchased this book. I read it cover to cover to make sure I am building my MAME the right way. I'm confident that I am going to build my perfect arcade now. I recommend to anyone looking for most of the info you need to build an arcade in one place. You could probably search the internet and find all of the same info, but this book saved me hours of searching and I'm confident I didn't miss anything. ... show more

Good Book if its your first time down the path of building an Arcade. If you have some experience with it already it can be somewhat repeatitive, but even the seasoned person will find a few great things in this book. I think its well worth the cost. Nice addition to the library!
