Wow. I’m really impressed with this pool table light. The light that it replaced was dark green and pretty dingy. This fixture throws an evenly dispersed, crisp, bright light. Dare I say I think it’s improved my game? The instruction manual made it easy to install, though it is a little bit heavy. Installed this light over my pool table because I wanted something super low profile. While it does produce a great light, I tried two different dimmers from the list provided and neither of them properly dim the light. The first one(Lutron DVCL153P) just produced a constant flicker that only stopped after flipping the switch several times. The second one (Lutron MACL153M) will dim the light nicely then randomly the light just goes to full brightness. If there were no issues with dimming I'd give this 5 stars. If you're only installing a regular on/off switch, I'd highly recommend this. ... show more

I chose this in 4000k color temp because it seemed the most "natural" for a pool table. Really like the build quality and looks of this. They definitely achieved a "minimalist" design with this. No plastic pool balls or beer company logos here. Brightness is outstanding, and coverage is the same. The same company sells a "perimeter" kit which must be simply amazing, because this light is pretty awesome itself. I might choose the perimeter kit for a billiards table because of the size, but honestly this one is big enough and bright enough for a "regular" pool table. Installation isn't too hard - if you've installed a ceiling or pendant light, you can handle this. But by far the best part about this light is the looks. This pool light from Solvita is exactly what I needed. My mother needed to get rid of a pool table that my dad bought us for Christmas 20 years ago, and I just couldn't let her sell it - the table has too much sentimental value! So, in preparation for its arrival, I had to find a nice light for the area, and this one looked perfect. The area where the table is going has 8' ceilings, so I can't have anything low profile. This light is adjustable, so I'm thinking maybe 6-10" from the ceiling will be perfect. There are several pros I'm anticipating after installation. First, the pool table should be perfectly lit with no "dead zones" where the light doesn't shine. Second, the fact this light is dimmable was a big selling point for me - I may not always want it on full blast. But the biggest pro (aside from the adjustability) is just how dang sleek this thing looks. I'm looking for a certain kind of vibe in this room, and I think this will set the tone nicely. So those are the pros, now for some of the cons. First, the price. This light seems extremely well made, and you get what you pay for, but that's a hefty price tag. Second, who is Solvita? I can't find them online, and there is no contact info in the owner's manual. That's a little sketch - it's as if this company doesn't want to be contacted. I don't see that replacement parts are available anywhere, and considering my two previous points about the cost of the light, and the absence of any contact info for the manufacturer, I'm a little nervous about something going wrong. I'm guessing if one of the LED strips stops working, I am just stuck with some expensive aluminum tubes. I wouldn't know how to replace a burned out section of light, or who to even contact to ask. Lastly, I'll need to have an electrician relocate a junction box to install this. I knew that going into it, and I guess it's not possible to have this kind of light with a box in the middle of the room, but that's something to think about if you're thinking about getting this light. I was going to drywall over two speaker holes that are no longer being used, so moving the box for this install wasn't that big a deal for me. If this thing looks as cool installed as it does in my head, it will be a like a functional piece of art. I'll post pics after it's up, and (of course) report any issues if there are any. ... show more

What attracted me first to this lamp was the clean design, it just looks classy and modern. Not only does it look good but the light is exceptionally bright and puts at an illumination 5000K white; it looks good it makes you see well. You'll need to wire it yourself but it's easy as the ends for the light all have clamps so you just put your wire in and clamp it down, no orange twist connectors.
