I purchased this same flavor at GNC then saw it go on sale here so I purchased a 4lb of the same flavor and it is not the same, smell, taste & label are different. Disappointed. Something is off.....label looked slapped on and taste is way off

This is an update to my earlier review, in which I insisted you needed time to review protein fully, so this is my final words after months of use: Complete waste of money! If you want details, just search on youtube what happened when jim stroppani attacked (by his initiative!) other brands! His label is misleading, what he says about protein synthesis is true, but this powder has very low amount protein, its filled with non-dairy creamer powders and many other useless things. Zero muscle growth, zero recovery and zero appetite suppression, it's very sweet for no-sugar lovers and it's very very expensive. If you really want protein blend, go and buy pure WPI, Casein, egg/soy seperately and mix them. results are guaranteed if you purchase from trustworthy brand. I still can't believe phd with such knowledge and experience has done this... ... show more

I have been having rrouble sleeping lately so naturally I started takings tally of any recent changes including my supplements. I went to check to see if by chance I overlooked this product may have caffeine or anything and while it doesnt. I did come across and warning sign that had been previously overlooked that says the state of California recognizes an ingredient in it that can cause CANCER OR REPRODUCTIVE ISSUES. First off wtf?! This should be in bold and clearly known to the consumer prior to purchase. I am not one on those fools who will shove just whatever in my body for "gains". This stuff is excellent. Three salient points about this protein, specifically in the “S’Mores” variety: 1) The taste, in my opinion, is the best of the Pro JYM lineup. It is a great blend of rich and sweet, but not overbearing. The taste does remind you of the classic campfire treat - in liquid form. 2) Consistency and “mixability.” It is different than the standard fare of hydrolyzed whey blends in that it contains casein and egg protein, both of which never seem to mix perfectly...until now. In a protein shaker, I’m able to get a nice smooth consistency, free of chunks and undissolved bits. In a cup, mixing with a spoon, it doesn’t come out well. That being said, I think the type of consumer who buys this probably owns a shaker of some sort. If you wait 15 minutes before consuming, the mixture gets even smoother. 3) I don’t use these as a meal replacement; however, one shake is satisfying enough to fill me up for a couple of hours. The richness is perfect for the pre-bedtime hunger snack cravings, and the casein proteins digest slower than standard whey. End result? Extra boost of protein before bed without loading up on calories, carbs, and sugars. If you’re working a calorie deficit for your fitness journey, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the filling properties of this blend. ... show more

    • Some notes on taste and texture

Let me get the quality part out of the way: It's intentionally designed to be one of the best protein powders you can get, and frankly I'm new enough to it to not know better but looked into it enough to trust it. Taste and texture. Mixed bag here to differing degrees. The 6-12 ounces of water recommendation is a load of hot garbage if you don't want to have grit. In the neighborhood of 18-20 ounces of water is more of what you need to get rid of that. Don't mind some grit? I still wouldn't go with less than 12 ounces. "Thicker shake" means "wet powder." It doesn't mean milkshake thickness. Put in water, it tastes like vanilla Silk that's been slightly watered down. Not enough to taste bad, but enough to think something might have been off. If you don't put it into enough water, it'll taste like there's some chalk in it. In milk it tastes almost exactly like a vanilla milkshake, maybe bordering on the bottled Hershey's vanilla one. The texture is also better than when it's in water because milk is still thicker whether you notice it on its own or not. That can make the grit more tolerable if you can't fit enough in your bottle to get rid of it. Temperature also matters, too. The taste is SIGNIFICANTLY better when it's cold. Unless you actually do like melted ice cream or room-temperature soy milk, get it in you before it warms up. Outside of that? It doesn't cost much more than the other trusted brands. I read the info on countless protein powders, and ended up buying and testing about 10. I found no other protein blend with as balanced a mix of protein as Jym. It has no amino acid supplements or added enzymes. It is the only protein blend I trust to digest over 7+ hours. I am updating this review to say that it no longer takes minutes to stir; only 30 seconds, meaning this protein powder no longer has any flaws, and I had already rated this 5 stars. I've looked through most of the 5000+ protein powder offerings on Amazon, and nothing else gets it right. Just fail blend after fail blend. I do use Stacked by Evlution Nutrition right after workouts, it is a good short duration blend, but at any other time, Jym is the one you want unless you have a milk allergy or something. There are other brands that do the same thing as Stacked, but nothing else on Amazon can replace Jym. ... show more
