When I read the reviews on this water softener I was skeptical about how well it would work. This worked every bit as well as was described and maybe even better. My well water was so bad I could hardly bring myself to shower or wash dishes with it. I received this softener, hooked it up with no problem thanks to the easy to understand directions. My first shower with it was amazing. The water felt so soft and smooth I didn't want to end the shower. I used to have rust stains in the stool and sink but after using this softener I don't have anymore rust stains. I would recommend this softener to anyone with hard water problems. What a difference!! I full time in one place with well water. Filters turned brown instantly. I worried about my plumbing and water heater being destroyed, not to mention nasty water spots. I bought this unit and WOW! what a difference. Shower is slickery which is much nicer and now I feel more at ease with my water filled appliances. I should have looked into this a year ago. I bought this product for my RV after looking at several. First time Snowbirding in Arizona where the water is very hard. Nice brass fittings and a short hose. I use a pressure regulator and a pre-filter before the softener. The unit needs to stay upright during use and transit. Weighs about 35#. I cut some reflector to wrap around the unit to help prevent direct sun on the unit. Instructions were simple to follow. I haven’t had to regenerate yet but looks like the easiest way is to purchase the regen kit. I was hoping to find a cheaper cartridge filter holder but proving tough to find one that will attach to hoses without buying more adapters. I use an inline filter so don’t want the hassle of more cartridges when the regen is used as a pre filter. Otherwise, seems to be a quality built unit. I don’t have strips to test the water so I can’t compare the water quality pre and post installation other than visual and taste which is improved. The unit should last a couple of months or more (1600 gal) before regen. We have had it installed for one month now. ... show more

I have been full time in our 5th wheel for almost 3 years now. I had well water for 30 years when we lived in real house so I am quite familiar with water softeners and how they are supposed to work. This unit works well but we use a lot of water and need to re-gen about once a week. I have been testing daily with test strips so I know when I need to do a re-gen. We probably wash 2-3 loads of laundry every day. This seems in line with what I was expecting since we had our whole house softener set to regen every 2 weeks whether it needed it or not. Not sure how some people claim they can go 6 weeks? Doesn't seem practical to me unless they shower only once a week. I did find the good old Morton water softener pellets with iron reduction work best and probably 1/10th of the cost of table salt. I put a filter full in Hefty bags so I am ready to go. The Morton 40LB bag will last 3 months. $8 I use a clear filter similar to the one Pro Aqua sells since Amazon was out of them and fill it full for a regen. Then lay it on the side so it mixes the salt better. I use a standard hose verses the skinny one they supply and just run it with a very slow stream. Takes about an hour. I always fill my fresh water tank before hand so it causes no issues with the wife. We have been using it for a few months now and really like it. I suspect we will get 2 years use before we need to replace the resin. Overall a very good solution for mobile or temporary applications with limited space. All the fittings on my system worked just fine. I think you just need to know how to use a washer properly unless there is a defect. ... show more
