  • High-quality travel brushes at a great price
Size: 4 Piece
I have regular Princeton Aqua Elite brushes for watercolor painting and I wanted a set for painting while traveling, too. Rather than buy the Aqua Elite travel set (such that I'd end up doubling up on some sizes), I bought these instead to have a set of brushes with different characteristics. These Neptune brushes really do hold water well and the bristles feel luxurious. They don't have a lot of snap, so if that's your preference in a brush, you might really enjoy these (there is more snap with the Aqua Elite). With the caps on the back of the brush for painting, the balance feels nice (weighted slightly towards the back/end of the handle from the mid-point) and good for holding either closer to the ferrule or further back. The caps have holes at the end so that if you have to put your brush away wet (or want to do so to avoid bending back any bristles) the moisture won't be trapped inside. The copper/rose gold color is beautifully complimented by the wood-grain at the crimp. Oh yeah -- that's another thing I think is very elegant about these brushes -- there is no visible crimp on the ferrule, so the brushes are quite sleek in that respect. The range of sizes included in the set is quite versatile. A previous reviewer commented that the (vinyl) case doesn't fold over the brushes - that is true if the brush caps are off and placed on the backs of the brushes for painting. However, the case is meant to be closed when the brush caps are on, and it does so just fine. The elastics that hold the brushes are a bit tight at first, but elastic, being what it is, will loosen over time. (I have collapsible water cups with scalloped edges, so I use those as brush rests while paintine.) Finally, the best part was the price, which is substantially lower than MSRP and other art suppliers' online prices! For the price of just a little more than two individual travel brushes of this same type, I got four brushes and a case! That definitely makes this set a good value for the money. ... show more

  • As expected
Size: 4 Piece
Princeton Neptune brushes as some of the thirstiest and most consistent brushes I have used. They have good snap and hold their points, the ferrules are solid and they hold up well to heavy use. These travel brishes seem to be no exception. They aren't crazy fragile and do not wear more than would be expected using paint in pans rather than tubes. (I have used them with student grade paint, artist grade (Daniel Smith, Senellier, MaimeriBlu and M. Graham) and artisanal quality paints. (Isaro and Greenleaf and Blueberry). My studio brushes have held for 2 years and counting, I look forward to many years of hiding these travel treasures in my backpack, next to my homemade tiny pallet. The caps fit very snugly and sometimes are not easy to remove, I had to use a bead of glue on the #6 to make it hold fast. This is, however, not something foreign to an artist but more something to be expected and planned for in advance. Most brushes end up getting a wee bit loosy goosy at the connection of ferrule and handle, those of this build with crimped metal ferrule anyway. Artist for more than a decade, watercolorist for nearly half of that. ... show more

  • I am in love!!!
Size: 4 Piece
Omg I am so happy I got the brushes!! They are beautiful to look at and work just as nice as the regular Neptune brushes. So nice to have a set that I can just throw in my art bag and not have to worry about them getting damaged. They fit nicely together and work perfectly!!! :):) (sorry a little excited) the handles are more of a rose gold than a silver gold like in the picture. And I don’t really understand the concept of the case they are in...kinda feel like it’s just there to make the brushes look packaged nicer?? You can’t actually fold the leather over the brushes which is weird to me, and there is a magnetic piece that holds the flaps together behind it. It does prop up but the brushes are so snug in the case that it still is awkward to use the case for that. I highly highly recommend these brushes for any watercolor artist especially if you already love the Princeton Neptune line. :):) ... show more

  • Awesome synthetic squirrel brushes
Size: 4 Piece
For anyone who might not know, squirrel hair brushes are quite soft, hold a lot of water, and are not super springy (they don't go back to the original shape after pushing down on the paper). These are great synthetic squirrel hair brushes, and I feel like the quality for the price is hard to beat. As long as you don't expect them to perform like sable or nylon brushes, you'll be happy. :) I bought these as an alternative to Escoda brushes and am super happy with my decision. ... show more

  • Great brushes
Size: 4 Piece
These have become the only brushes I use while I am traveling or not. They are great brushes that hold plenty of water. The selection of sizes is perfect and they are beautiful. The carrying case is the right size to throw in a travel kit. Worth the money for sure.

  • AmazinPrinceton Neptune travel brush set
Size: 4 Piece
These are my go to brushes the set includes all round brushes #4 #6 #8 & #10 case secures them neatly to stand up ready to paint to fold over & go w them. They hold the water and do a wonderful job. The ferils are not crimped, and these feel and look like top quality brushes from a novice painter.

  • Nice looking brushes with poor quality control.
Size: 4 Piece
The brushes look really beautiful, almost too nice looking to use. However the quality doesn't live up to the looks (or the price). Before even getting to use my brush I went to close them. The first three pulled away no problem, but the fourth one the wood bit pulled right out from it's metal holder. It seems the metal piece was held in more strongly than the glue that held the wooden bit in.I will probably try to glue the wooden bit back in. Given the high price though, I'd expect better construction. I've used Princeton brushes for awhile, but never tried their travel brushes, which makes it more disappointing. I think I'll stick with their normal brushes. ... show more
