I don’t profess to be an expert or anything and these opinions are my own. I’ve been around kava for a while and was always skeptical about buying kava online since I got burned in the past. I usually just visit the local kava bar in East Village or schlep out to Brooklyn, but am starting to dread the trip from LIC and the pounding it would make on my wallet. It’s up to $11 for a single bowl of kava in the city now. So I took the chance on this one and we were pleasantly surprised. I’m not a fan of making kava the traditional way and am known to make too much or too little, so these pre-measured pouches were SUPER convenient. If you enjoy the process of making kava, more power to you, it ain’t for me. There’s nothing worse than wanting to extend the buzz, and realizing you need to wring out another sock of it for 15 minutes to get there. Aside from that, I like how they addressed the issue about eating and kava. I’m not sure if it’s actually dangerous like the point out, outside of the potential nausea, but it’s well known food masks the kava buzz. Not many people talk about it, but it’s there. Think of having a beer after a big meal, and having one after a low-carb meal or no meal at all, very big difference. Kava was never meant to be consumed after eating anyway, and all the Fijians I know drink it a few hours before meals or very late at night. If you’re going to drink it, have it the way it was consumed for years. Performance - 5 of 5 After two sessions it’s clear this is good quality kava, no question. Mental clarity and relaxation was in full swing without the grogginess of cheap knockoffs. Buzz came on fairly quick, within about twenty minutes I was floating and found myself zoning out on the fish tank for half an hour. I’m a bigger guy but I only needed a pack and a half to get to my zone. The duration was expected, a couple hours, but it was nice to just add a 1/4-1/2 a pack when it started easing off. Taste - 5 of 5 As many of you guys already know, kava doesn’t taste the best. Unless you’re a big fan of pasty-spicy-mud-water. I don’t trust pill extracts since they're known to be from China, so you just gotta suck it up. Partially relieved to see this one not being as morbidly pungent as most though, it was actually smooth. Mouthfeel was mild in terms of numbness Price - 4 of 5 Although still being WAYY cheaper than visiting the bars, it’s not the cheapest out there. However, with kava you tend to get what you pay for. It’s like craft beers if you’re familiar with the scene. There’s Budweiser, there’s Stone IPA’s, then there’s Founders Bourbon Ales. Different price points and completely different quality. This is up there in the better quality kava’s, and certainly the best instant I’ve ever tried. Overall Conclusion I’m giving it a 4 out of 5. Rounding down because my package showed up two days later than expected and didn’t arrive in time for our kava get together. Will order again since the packets are perfect for Central Park days. *EDIT I just noticed they just released a pack of 15 that’s priced very reasonable. I am extremely floored at this product right now. I struggle with a condition called Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, as well as fibromyalgia. My body hurts about 99% of the time and I’ve struggled with adrenaline surges and depression as well. I turned to kava kava as a last resort before I decided to give in to pharmaceutical drugs to manage my symptoms. I ordered this and it got here today. I just drank it and about 15 minutes in my body pain was very minimal, my heart rate went down, and I just felt like I was in a good mood. I guess you could say I feel “normal” for once. I am absolutely going to order this product again, and share this product with other people that share my pain. Amazing job to the manufacturers on making such an awesome product.     • I suffer from Panic Attacks...
...but prefer herbal over pharmaceutical. For years I have tried Kava on and off reading mixed reviews about its anxiolytic properties. A lot of Kava (capsules) on the market is just bad quality and the Kava tea available at Target and Walmart is no good. The Kava candies have tons of other herbs mixed in and actually cause anxiety when they wear off (from my experience). This is just Kava- nothing more, nothing less. And if you're confused about dosages or starting points or mixing drinks- this takes the confusion out of it. Just open 1 packet and mix it with cold water. Add some grapefruit or pineapple for flavor and drink. Within seconds you can tell it's pure Kava. Finally, the customer service is so friendly and helpful. I reached out with a question and got a response in minutes. This is a quality vendor. I don't ever feel compelled to review things but they deserve it. ... show more

This was my first experience with any sort of kava product. I suffer from severe pain issues and some pretty nasty periodic anxiety attacks, so I'm always looking for any way to improve my health and funtioning outside of mainstream medicine. This powder mixes easily and I found the taste to be pretty mild; yes, it has a slight earthiness, but mostly it tasted like nothing at all. My mouth definitely went numb right away just from licking the spoon after scooping out my dose. It eventually has a bit of a pleasant numbing effect on the throat as well, but not as pronounced as that of the mouth. A few minutes after my first dose, it felt like I did a HUGE exhale and suddenly my shoulders relaxed. I also got a feeling that I can only describe as peaceful well-being. I wasn't groggy or sleepy and I wasn't stimulated, just kind of mellow. I had a terrible migraine out of nowhere one day, and typically once one sets in, there is little I can do about it, but the kava kept it from getting worse. I did have to take a heavier dose to achieve that effect, but hey, it beat the performance of my usual prescription migraine pill. The biggest drawback to this product is the way it is packaged. It comes in a small tin that is absolutely stuffed to the brim with powder, and the power is exceedingly light, so no matter how hard you try, it seems like you end up wasting little puffs of kava when you open the tin or move it the wrong way. You need to sort of hold your breath as you measure it out because you can blow half of it away with one ill-timed breath! A larger tin or some other sort of container would be much easier, and a welcome addition would be if the manufacturer included just a little plastic scoop to measure out a normal dose because trying to use a spoon doesn't work when the tin is overly full; you have to try to weigh out the dust, but the more you have to move the dust around, the more you lose of it. The product is good but it seems to be one of the more expensive options, so keeping the powder from blowing away is kind of important. One thing I did not realize before I tried kava for the first time is that in addition to numerous different brands, there are a ton of different TYPES of kava which are supposed to bring about different kind of effects. Some are more body dominant, some are more brain heavy, some are more "social" and energizing. I tried one type that was exceedingly unpleasant to me because it was overstimulating. This product, on the other hand, seems to fall right into the "sweet spot" as far as producing balanced brain and body effects and general calm and relaxation. ... show more
