4.21.17 Update The company has been persistent with follow-up and obviously cares about getting it right. Today I received a new box for the JM-8153 set, and I can report that it works fine and is not broken. I'm upgrading my rating to 5 stars. As I said before, for the price, this is a fine set and will work well. Now that the case is in working order, it meets my needs and expectations. The company also sent me a JM8130 set, which also has a good box. I also like the flexible extender in the 8130 - nice set of tools! 2.11.17 Update From my first negative review, the company was prompt in contacting me and sending a replacement. So, 5 stars for customer service, but sending a replacement with the exact same problem will not prompt me to change my rating. For the first set, I wondered if somehow I had caused the box to break. For the replacement set, I knew what to look for. Before I even removed the shrink wrap, I could see through the clear lid that the plastic hook thingy at the back of the box was already broken. I suspect it breaks upon the very first box closing at the factory. Sure enough, I opened the box and the hook just fell off. No cracking noise like the first one - it was already broken. Tray lid is mostly useless at this point. Sorry, the tool set is fine for the price, but if the box/tray and organization is important to you, then this is a fail. Best regards to the fine customer service person! FIRST REVIEW Just like so many others, the set is fine, but the box is terrible. It broke on the very first open. Someone was trying to be too clever and design a system that partially folds down the bits when the lid closes. While this keeps the box slimmer, the money that went into springs, hooks and the pull mechanism could have been saved by making the box a fraction of inch taller. This will be a hassle for as long as I keep it. Now I regret buying the set - I didn't realize how important organized storage would be. Also, after 1 use, the rubber grip on the handle is starting to wear off. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This set is really good. It has served me through multiple house moves (which entails random handywork like furniture (dis)assembly, cabinetry repair etc), multiple electronic and electrical appliance repairs etc. The torque I've applied through for some of the bits install (wall mounting some things in hard wood) has been extremely high but this one hasn't failed (even if the screw might strip lol) But... Out of the blue the driver's neodymium magnet disc... Broke? I've never even heard of such a failure case. So now the bits don't "stick". See photos for some macro shots of the broken magnet debris that I removed and now it's all empty there. The driver still works of course but certain scenarios like using it upside down can now be arduous as the bit will slip out. ... show more

This set is so well put together in its form and its function that I have had it sitting on my computer desk to look at because the quality & order pleases my mind. The case securely closes with a sliding latch - unlike my old Black and Decker set where the latches broke years ago. The hinges, while plastic, are triple hinges with a metal pin. Again - I don't see these breaking any time soon. The components are snug in their spots inside the case and don't fall all over like my old set either. While I have not used the tools much yet, the tests of the ratchet drivers were good. They are well put together, with no plastic in critical wear points. The ratchet dial is solid and it locks the tool in place for the direction of turn well. The mechanism to angle the driver also is solid, with a metal pin and it stays well in place. I believe this is one of the best purchases toolsets that I have made in a while, and I feel it will last for years to come. I may even get this as a gift for each of my kids this Christmas if it proves to work out as well as I think it will. ... show more

    • Didn't know how much I needed this set until I got it!

I purchased the 43 piece set and it has been working great! I originally purchased it because I wanted to swap out a hard drive circuit board and didn't have a small enough torx bit. It worked perfect for that job and I was even able to remove some stripped torx screws, without damaging the bit. I also used the set recently to replace an iPhone 8 digitizer/lcd assembly. I used to always use the crummy little screw drivers that always come with those screen kits but the kit was missing the tri-wing screwdriver(needed to remove some covers and components) and the Phillips screwdriver was oversized. This kit saved me from a lot of frustration on that job! I also like the screen cloth, tweezers, and guitar pick tools it came with. Only issue is that the tweezers are a bit too rounded at the ends and that makes it difficult to pick up certain tiny components or small gauge wire. This is no big deal, as I can file them flat with no problem. Great kit and a great value! ... show more
