Description

Introducing the Flooring Strap Clamp by POWERTEC. These must-have strapping clamps were primarily designed to allow the floor to stay tight while your adhesive is setting up, simplifying the installation of flooring materials. Featuring a simplistic design – this item functions primarily as a ratchet clamp tightening your flooring together, pulling and holding the pressure on the materials joints. The clamp's tight grip holds work material securely in place while the floor covering is in the process of being nailed or glued down. “This convenient tool supplies the clamping pressure, to take the pressure off of you. ” Versatile Design It’s ideal for laying parquet, laminate planks, floating hardwood, or tongue and groove flooring. It can also be used for float engineered flooring or gluing down solids to concrete, along with a wide variety of woodworking applications such as framing. Additionally, when you remove the clamp plates, this item can be used in lashing-strap install applications. Premium Build This flooring clamp possesses a heavy duty galvanized metal construction – offering a rust free and corrosion resistant housing. It’s perfectly paired with a 1” wide nylon strap that not only extends to over 13 feet (157 inches), giving you extended coverage for larger work surfaces – but flaunts an impressive clamping force of up to 220 lbs. for heavy duty projects. Easy-To-Use Whether you’re a professional or DIY enthusiast, this clamping strap provides a quick and hassle free set-up. Simply attached the clamp to the base and last row of flooring. Use the expandable strap as you lay each row of material. A failsafe thumb gap-setting screw insures impeccable, uniform results at your floor surface’s outer edges.

  • Doing the job at the right price for a one off DIY floor.
These units were about a third the cost of name brands and I needed three to get me through, so I saved a couple of hundred dollars. After sorting out some minor glitches they are reliably doing the job I need them for. I had to adjust one unit to get it to release properly - by taking apart and bending a metal tab to correct position so the release plate could retract further. I had to re attach the strap that came off the anchor end of another unit - appears the loop ends are simply glued not sewn - fixed by re glueing with epoxy. The bolts used to hold the strap and the ratchet lever to the base plates need locktite nuts and the anchor end bolt that the strap loops around needs a threadless shank or sleeve or the thread will eventually cut through the strap fibres, weakening it, causing it to fail eventually. Ideally, the side tabs on the main body lower release plate could be slightly wider, or lateral movement better constrained, to prevent the lever cams slipping off on one side. ... show more

  • Deck boards
Use this for installing grooved deck boards. Works great. Not the highest quality but effective.

  • Great for outdoor decks
It is designed to be used on hardwood floor installs but i have used it more than once for outdoor decks , it is a lifesaver , allowed me to use deckboards that were less than desirable.

  • Gets the job done
Used these to install a glue down engineered wood floor and they worked as expected. It was my first time installing any flooring and these really helped hold the boards in tight while I taped. Helps to use a glued or secured anchor piece at one end and another piece as a bracket at the other because the clamps tend to pop up when overtightened. The screws attached to the fastener pieces came off several times, so keep any eye that they are tight. The spindle for the strap is just a piece of plastic with rubber bands wrapped around, so not the easiest to work with. ... show more

  • design makes it hard to use against walls
This generally worked well - though it would have been nicer if: - it was better designed to work against walls, especially opposite where you are installing the flooring (I had to remove basedboards and cut away at some of the drywall to get to where flooring ended) - it was easier / more comfy to undo - maybe a piece of silicone or something on the metal bit you need to pull on to get it undone - the 'lips' that keep it in place also mean that you need a huge gap in order for it to be useful. All in all though, it did what it needed to do and my floors are installed ... show more

  • Unratcheted strap stitches failed within ~50 sqft
I added some masking tape to ensure the brackets didn't scratch my floor. It was working really well, until the stitches failed on the non-ratchet end. I'll try gluing them together to fix, for now. Hopefully the strap itself doesn't snap on me, but just in case I have been wearing safety goggles while working with this tool. ... show more

  • The straps need to be about 5 to 10 ft longer. Other than that pretty good.
Easy to use and good quality
