  • I am the king of bass
Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Final installation: I placed my sound system in the basement with the subwoofer within 3 feet of the corner of the wall and facing the corner and it sounds better than the 60 cubic feet bandpass. I remember when I literally went inside the 60 cubic feet bandpass and turned on the music the lows around 30 hertz sounded strange like it was distorted and didn't sound loud or clean and there was a peak around 50 hertz. But as I walked away the 30 hertz frequency spot started getting louder. Also, at the distance where 30 hertz started sound better, the mid bass 40hz and up started decreasing so that the frequency response was way uneven. So in general, building an 8th order bandpass is a bad idea. Put these subwoofers in a ported box with volume around 4 cubic feet for each subwoofer and tuned to around 30 hertz. The place the box in the corner of a room for best results. And I do not recommend putting this 15" in a vehicle unless you know your city's noise disturbances laws. Old update: Haven't even put it in a box yet and I can tell this is going to be a good subwoofer. I haven't even put this subwoofer in a box yet and it gets louder than my bose acoustimass. If you can hear a subwoofer when it's free airing that must mean when you put it in the box it will be deadly loud. The suspensions are so stiff that it takes like 30 pounds of weight on the cone to bottom it out. The motor force is very powerful and its like impossible to stop the cone from moving when its playing no matter how hard you try. I never had a subwoofer like this before. When my second mofo 15", flared ports, and 1500w crown amp comes I will do the review and I will probably get my mind blown away. Right now I have it in a 8.7 cubic feet box powered by a denon avr 2600 which is probably putting 200-300 watts into this subwoofer and I have never heard anything like this in my entire life. My box using four 4" diameter and 17" length flared precision ports tuned to around 28hz. The subwoofers are reverse mounted because it sounds deeper this way than with the magnet side inside the box. But the bad part is that there is an air leak that you can hear when I connected my subwoofer with the magnet side sticking out. But I might be able to fix it by screwing the subwoofer tighter to the box but not sure it will guarantee the air leak to go away. With only 200-300watts to this subwoofer I can see the walls and ceiling nearby literally moving with the beat. The stuff on the shelf are definitely shaking. The shaking happens the most at around 25hz. I don't know why it sounds loudest at around 25hz even though its tuned to like 29hz but this is a good thing anyways. I used to think 30hz bass was deep enough but this subwoofers in my box sounds loud and clean at 25hz and maybe a few hertz lower. The garage door that is like 20 feet away and in another room rattles and you can see it moving a little. It hits 25hz louder than 30hz but this is probably because its a single 15" in a 8.7 cubic feet box so when the other mofo 15" arrives it should hit 30hz and up better. So around 30hz to 40hz sounds like the bass is loose but around 60hz sounds good when the bass punches occur. This subwoofer has a good strong punch of around 50-60hz but I was expecting a deeper punch. I think that I have the loudest bass in my neighborhood right now even though it will get like twice as loud once the other subwoofer and 1500w crown amp comes. Initial (dumb) installation: I have finished the entire bass system. It is about a 60 cubic feet bandpass enclosure but it is inside of a room that resonates around 22 hertz due to the opening of the doorway. My 8.7 cubic feet enclosure tuned to 26 hertz is inside of a 50 cubic feet enclosure tuned to 33 hertz. With around 750 watts going to each subwoofer the subwoofers do not distort one bit. The only thing that distorts are the walls in my house even though I got them reinforced with 2x4's. With my set-up, I can hear the subsonic bass start getting loud between 20 to 30 hertz with maybe around 5 watts total or 2.5 watts going to each subwoofer. That is how efficient my 60 cubic feet 8th order bandpass enclosure is. Most bandpass enclosure are 6th orders with a sealed chamber inside of a ported chamber. My bandpass is an 8th order with is a ported inside of another ported enclosure. The results is extreme SPL and efficiency without crazy $1000 subwoofers or 10,000 watt amplifiers. My 1550 watt 8th order bandpass set-up will beat out a 5000 watt 6th order bandpass enclosure. The worst way to getting loud bass is with power. The smart way is with efficiency. Power = heat. My subwoofers are reverse mounted so that it is easier for me to wire up and it looks better. It also affects the sound by making the bass slightly less distinct so it sounds a little more soft but without affecting efficiency or maximum SPL. The subwoofers have never bottomed out or reached maximum excursion before. So I never heard any loud clicking noises that some subwoofers make when the excursion is too much and the voice coil hits the magnet. If I tune down my box to around 14 hertz by covering up 3 or my 4 ports it will make the windows in the house vibrate so much that you can see it moving back and forth. But this only occurs in one song that I am aware of. This song that hits around 14 hertz is tesla beats (slowed) by DJ Billy E. But you will need a subsonic filter because there are frequencies in this song that might be too low like around 4 or 5 hertz. The beginning of the song is around 14 hertz and it continues with the 14 hertz beat for around 30 seconds then it changes frequencies down to the 4 to 5 hertz and then back to the 14 hertz, etc. This subwoofer is the ultimate deal. I thought for a $100 a 15" woofer it was going to feel flimsy and cheap but the build quality is excellent. Although the bass quality is good but not great, most people buy subwoofers to get loud instead of having high bass quality. Putting these subwoofers nearby walls is not recommended. The drywall screws that are on the wall of my bandpass have lost their strength and the wall rattles loudly unless I temporarily reinforce it with the 2x4's by placing it between two walls and using a cushion between to make it very tight. I know it might sound weird that I put a car audio subwoofer inside of my house but it is kinda a good thing because if you put it in a car then you have a higher chances of getting busted by the police. In my city, you can play loud music in your house as long as it is not between 10:00pm to 7:00am. Between those times are where you can get fined like $250. And I think it is always illegal to play loud music in a vehicle to where the music is clearly distinguishable from 100 feet away. At least that is like how it is for my city. So as long as I play it loud during the day in your house there should be no way the police will come or receiving a letter than you got to pay a fine for noise disturbances. Anyways, houses generally have better noise isolation than cars due to the thicker walls and insulation in houses so the bass will leak less and disturb other people. And when you got these in your house you will probably only disturb the houses nearby which will most likely be a few people. In a car you are disturbing almost every car and every house that you drive by. So in one day you might disturb like 1000 people driving by with your bass booming. ... show more

Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
This Sub sounds amazing in my Malibu. Built a 4 cubic foot ported box and pushing it with one channel on a Boss Phantom PT3000. The lows are great and hits harder then almost any two 12's I've heard. Considering giving up my entire trunk to add another. Highly recommend

  • Works great

Owned this for years, loved every day. Also had a 12” hooked up next to it. There’s definetly better out there, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again. Ended up selling when having a baby. Never hooked up a amp big enough to max it out, ran the boss riot 2000w max I believe.
