I and my whole family are beginners when it comes to pottery wheels. I thought this might be a fun way to try them out -- and it is, but at the same time I feel like if I'd gotten something a little bit better, it might be easier to remove the clay from the wheel (despite being very careful to observe the proper amount of moisture in the clay). That's really the only draw that I see, which could be just from a lack of experience. So, as far as I can tell it's doing the job correctly, and I just have to give it time and study a little more to get things right. ... show more

This is definitely a kit for kids or beginners because everything in the kit is plastic. I was excited to try out the wheel because it is quite powerful for a little plastic toy. I was disappointed to find that no matter what I tried I couldn't get the clay to stay in place for me to work with while on it, the wheel just continued spinning underneath the clay. While I didn't really enjoy the wheel part of this kit, I did really like the clay and the paints that came with it. The clay was really soft and easy to work with, especially when you add additional water. Once I let my project dry completely, I used the included paints to give it some color and they are all vibrant and quick drying on the clay. I would recommend not purchasing this kit and just finding another air dry clay kit that doesn't come with a wheel. ... show more

I ordered this beginners pottery wheel set for an activity for my grandsons. You get everything you need to complete a couple of creations and the activity is very entertaining. My grandsons did not want to paint their artwork but on the next visit wanted to make another creation but I did not have any additional clay. I will have to order more. Just like other reviews said I definitely think that this pottery wheel is for smaller kids who are learning how because when I attempted to do something with it the pressure that I had stopped the wheel. Our daughter though has been able to make some little makeshift bowls with it so it hasn't been an issue for her. All that considering I think that quality is pretty great! It's simple to use and it's a very nice and full kit even including some paint for their Creations after they're done! I think it does everything that it is supposed to do as long as a kid is using it! It is super versatile and you can make tons of stuff with it! It performs as it should and the size is super nice for only taking up a little space! I definitely think this is a great value for your money especially if you are getting it for a little one who loves to craft and create! I was very impressed by everything that this kit comes with! Definitely a good solid 10/10! Just do not get this thinking that you can use it as an adult as well LOL ... show more

This has been a major disappointment (as expected). First and foremost, the wheel is severely underpowered, making it nearly impossible to work with clay effectively. Furthermore, the wheel head is too slick, causing the clay to slip and slide, making it extremely challenging to create anything of quality. In addition to its poor performance, the pottery wheel generates an excessive amount of noise, making the overall experience unpleasant. Frankly, I cannot recommend this product for any practical use apart from perhaps serving as a basic banding wheel. It is not appropriate for beginners or anyone seeking a reliable pottery wheel for their projects. ... show more

My kid isn't quite at the recommended age range, so my wife took a heavier hand in helping her out on the first few spins. This thing was awesome - it was a joy to create something on, and my daughter really takes pride in being able to say she crafted the bowls we have sitting on the counter. With that said, it also created a big mess each use, so make sure you have a good place to clean things out on (not to clog any sinks). Overall, there are ample tools to try, clay to test out and paint to finish it off with. The media could not be loaded. I’m very mixed on this craft set. I think the overall quality and value will be dependent on the intended use. I ordered this for my two kids. Both really enjoyed making their little pots. The kit included everything you need to make the craft. There are two small bags of clay, tools, paint, brushes and the little wheel. The motor struggles to keep up. This isn’t a toy that will get many uses. The motor burnt out before the second pot was done (see video.) this was a bit disappointing for kid #2. The plastic and appearance of the wheel seem quite nice. It comes with both a plug and battery operated option. This leads me to believe it’s not necessary a one time use toy, but other aspects of the kit (small amounts of clay and paint) do. This would be great for a quick two day craft (one to make the pot and dry it, a second yo paint it) to occupy younger kids, but it may not hold up for older ones. It’s best for temporary situations where everything can be tossed when done. It was very popular here and the temporary nature of the wheel was disappointing to us. I highly recommend the craft, but you do need to have an accurate understanding of the intended use and quality going into it. ... show more

Grandson who is 5 years old loved this thing. It is easy and with very little help he grasped the concept and went from there. Well worth the value and hopefully he will expand from there. Well worth the money...we where happy with it.
