    • An excellent drone for beginners and experienced drone pilots
This drone is sturdy and has all of the features that you could ask for in a drone in this class. I really like the ability to move the camera up and down in flight. Reasonable flight time but you will want to order an additional battery due to the appropriately 1 hour recharge time. Holds its position well in light winds and the auto return to take-off location is great should you stray beyond range. The auto return on low batter is great but the return under this circumstance was about 10 feet off from point of take off which is acceptable. . This is my first experience with a drone capable of smart phone operation. Take the time to read the manual and watch a video or two before operation to get a full understanding of the controls which are not all marked. Responds well to commands and takes a crash or two without any major damage. My drone is down now due to a crash which disabled one of the motors. The drone lost contact with the controller when it strayed too close to an electrical power cable and I suspect that magnetic/electrical interference from the power line may have caused loss of control in mid air while within the recommended operating range. I have checked the motor assembly and believe that i have solved the problem with a manual reseating of the motor but have not been able to test my repair. If the drone continues to have issues with the motor,, it may require replacement. At the time of the sudden loss of control, the drone hit the side of a neighbors's roof and fell about 2 stories to the ground; the impact may have caused damage to the motor as it continued to run after the crash. Replacing the motor seems to be within my range of abilities. I have more expensive drones but overall, the ease of flying this one and getting decent pix makes (made?) this one my favorite for recreational flying. If I cannot fix the motor quickly (if necessary), I would re-order this drone based on the positive experience I had prior to the suspected electrical interference of power lines. Be careful to avoid any source of electrical interference when flying.. I would suggest using a sim card (not included) to capture video on board as the picture quality is compromised when the drone is near the end of its recommended range. However, the video captured on the smart phone using the available app is more than satisfactory for getting an overhead look at my neighborhood. I got this drone to examine a leaky roof and was able to get good video of the roof on a windy day and locate the source of leaks and evaluate the extent of the overall condition of my roof without using a ladder. For the relative low cost, this drone is a a great value in its class. Only cons are limited battery time and limited marking on the controls which makes studying the manual a must for successful operation. Although the crash happened during the return window, I take responsibility for the crash due to my flying too low near the power line.     • Too many issues for the price.
I had several problems with this drone 1 - note I said “had”. The biggest issue I had was on my 3rd and final flight. I was hovering above my house when the drone decided to start flying away from me. Before I could locate the button to turn off the GPS the drone had flown away and onto the tallest tree about 150 feet up with no way of retrieving it. Kiss $150+ goodbye 2 - It always took a couple of minutes to get it to connect to my phone and start showing the feed from the camera, eating into the precious little time the battery does have. 3 - the WiFi distance on the drone is very small. By the time I get to the top of the trees the video feed becomes very choppy and eventually drops. I’ve had to turn off auto join to my home WiFi so that my phone wouldn’t switch in the middle of a flight because the drones signal was so week. 4 - the recorded video was blurry and jumpy unless I maneuvered as slow as I possibly could. 04/02/19 UPDATE We had a major thunderstorm blow through, lots of wind and heavy rain. It managed to blow the quad out of the tree it was stuck in. I found it the next morning soaking wet. I brought it home, took everything apart and dried it out as much as I could. I let it sit for a few days to allow it to dry even more. Tonight I put it back together, put the battery in, said a little prayer and turn it on. The lights came on and started blinking. My phone connected to its WiFi and I could see the camera view. I turned on the remote, pushed the left stick up and down, all the lights went steady and I was able to take off. I didn’t even have to calibrate it by spinning in circles. Everything seems to be functional. I’ll say this much. This thing can take a beating. Only a small crack in the shell and one of the props as slightly bent which I was able to quickly straighten. I still don’t know why it took off into the tree. I was able to watch the recorded video and it looks like it started spinning in a circle while flying away from my location. I’m a little leery about taking it up again and will keep it a little closer to home for awhile until I gain more confidence in it and can be sure it won’t fly away again. I’ve bumped my review to 2 stars because of its durability. 05/11/19 UPDATE: Recently I received an email from Potensic customer support. Apparently they read my review. They offered a full refund and even said I didn’t have to return the drone. All they needed was the order number. I was skeptical but figured what’s the worst that can happen. So I replied with my order number. The next day Amazon notifies me that they are processing a refund request. Today I checked my CC account and sure enough I was refunded the full purchase price. This doesn’t fix the short comings of this drone but at least the company stands behind its product. You don’t see that much anymore these days. ... show more
