Everything about it very good product. Easy to install and operate. Now my review from a woman's point of view: First and foremost I want to point out the amazing job my husband did on the install! Now onto the actual product, we should have bought this system years ago!!! We have well water where we stay and it is incredible how this compact system changes the quality of water in our RV. There is no odd smell anymore, my skin and hair are softer, I don't have to use as much soap, shampoo or conditioner and doing laundry and the dishes doesn't require as much either! Size: Dual Purpose Pre-Filter Kit
Read the instructions completely, then read them again and set it up. We use many RV campgrounds, nearly all of them we have been to have had extremely hard water, hence the reason for buying this system. Setup and install is a breeze, you HAVE to run it for a cycle as per the instructions before use, if you don't, it's not going to work as expected. We noticed the water was much, much softer than before. Our skin is softer and having soft water will help with not only keeping you feeling smooth, it helps with your appliances in the camper too. Hard water is bad for water heaters and the rest of the equipment that uses water in the RV. I would certainly recommend this to anyone, with any size camper! Just remember to run the brine through it when recommended. All it takes is a pound of household salt and about 30 minutes of your time. All hardware, fittings and tubing to make it work is in the kit! also don't cheap out, buy the filter kit for it too. ... show more

I have been full time in our 5th wheel for almost 3 years now. I had well water for 30 years when we lived in real house so I am quite familiar with water softeners and how they are supposed to work. This unit works well but we use a lot of water and need to re-gen about once a week. I have been testing daily with test strips so I know when I need to do a re-gen. We probably wash 2-3 loads of laundry every day. This seems in line with what I was expecting since we had our whole house softener set to regen every 2 weeks whether it needed it or not. Not sure how some people claim they can go 6 weeks? Doesn't seem practical to me unless they shower only once a week. I did find the good old Morton water softener pellets with iron reduction work best and probably 1/10th of the cost of table salt. I put a filter full in Hefty bags so I am ready to go. The Morton 40LB bag will last 3 months. $8 I use a clear filter similar to the one Pro Aqua sells since Amazon was out of them and fill it full for a regen. Then lay it on the side so it mixes the salt better. I use a standard hose verses the skinny one they supply and just run it with a very slow stream. Takes about an hour. I always fill my fresh water tank before hand so it causes no issues with the wife. We have been using it for a few months now and really like it. I suspect we will get 2 years use before we need to replace the resin. Overall a very good solution for mobile or temporary applications with limited space. All the fittings on my system worked just fine. I think you just need to know how to use a washer properly unless there is a defect. ... show more

Great water softener for a decent price. The reason it did not get five stars is the fact that they did not include any carry handle for the softener which makes it a bit more tedious to set it up with our RV. It seems that finding just a handle isn't all that simple, either, and, since it is a bit on the heavier side of the equation, I need to find a better/easier way to carry it around. ... show more

My girlfriend and I moved out to the country. The water was extremely hard causing our skin to dry out and it was hel on her hair. Moving forward. Saw this on Amazon. Awesome price , great review. Got I in. Super easy install. Pic is the way I got it now but will mount it on plywood and plum it with 3/4 PVC for a permanent condition. Water is now great and we are happy. I would recommend this kit with the filter as opposed to the tank itself as you can recharge the system by draining the filter and adding salt as directed. Definitely use shut off valves before and after unit and some form of union of disconnect for servicing. ... show more

My pool chemical test kit includes a calcium water hardness test. When tested, my city water ranges from 225ppm to 275ppm calcium. I purchased this portable softener specifically for our fifth wheel and was excited to see how effective it was compared to our whole house water softener which drops calcium to zero. I flushed the softener as directed in the instructions and set it up for use with my RV. I took a water sample and ran a calcium test and it too was able to drop my city water to zero calcium. I can't speak to others claiming to have run similar tests without success. I can only think they were testing for Total Dissolved Solids, trying to soften extremely hard water, or were conducting some other irrelevant test. Others judging water softness by feel isn't very accurate either. Also, those looking for a spot free rinse for washing vehicles need to look for a water deionizing system. This softener will not accomplish that, nor was it designed for that. Bottom line, this unit, for me, does exactly what it claims to, includes several useful hose adapters, and has an option for adding a pre-filter/recharge kit for a very reasonable price. If you are in the market, after all my research and subsequent experience with this Pro Aqua softener, this is it! Don't hesitate! ... show more
