Simple machine. Forward, reverse, and stop and grind in place. Sufficient power and much better than doing by hand. Can pay attention and see where there is some resistance and fix it. Well worth it. Now I have one for the next issue.

I recently faced 2 stubborn slow drain line issues in both my kitchen sink and washing machine drain lines that connect to the main line outside my house. Enter the POPULO 20V Cordless Electric Drain Auger, and it worked like magic! Here’s why I’m impressed: This little wonder cleared up the clogs faster than I could say “plumber.” No more standing water, no more frustration. And it paid for itself by eliminating the cost of having a plumber come out and snake the lines! The POPULO 20V Cordless Electric Drain Auger feels sturdy and well-made. It’s evident that it’s designed to handle tough jobs. The forward and reverse lever feels a little "stiff" but it's not a knock on this little machine at all. The design is similar to other plumbing snakes that you would attach a drill to. However, the ability to advance and retreat the snake makes using this snake over a traditional snake a game changer. You can select the direction the snake rotates, similarly to the way you change the forward and reverse on a cordless drill, by pressing a direction indicator near the trigger. Here's how I was able to clear both drain lines: 1. Pull the snake from the machine and place it into the drain 2. Switch the direction lever to the Forward position 3. Pull the trigger to begin advancing the snake down the drain line. When the snake hits a bit of resistance and the cable stops advancing down the drain, release the trigger and put the lever in "neutral." Now pull the trigger to engage the spin, and manually push and pull the snake inside the drain by moving the machine forwards and backwards in a "sawing" like motion. When you no longer feel the resistance, release the trigger, switch the lever to forward, repeat the process. 4. When satisfied, switch the lever to reverse and begin retracting the cable back into the machine drum. [Pro tip] PPE is a must! As are rags and/or towels to help with clean up. You don't want the build-up and crud from your pipes getting thrown everywhere as the snake is being retracted. I used a rag to hold the cable in my left hand while I was retracting the cable out of the drain (it helped prevent the rotation from flinging nastiness everywhere and kept some of the gunk from being retracted into the machine's drum.) I wish the manufacturer had painted an indicator at the 2-foot mark and the 24-foot mark. I'll be doing this myself another day. The 24-foot mark would let you know there's not much snake left to send, and the 2-foot mark would help when retracting the snake back inside. This isn't a negative knock on the machine, though! So much easier than the manually turned snakes. This is not a professional grade machine so I don't expect it to last for years but it performed well on my two clogs. Be sure to read and fully understand the instructions before using, took me few reads while looking at the machine to fully get it. Do not try to power through a clog. when you feel it hit something, stop the forward feed and let it spin until it frees up, reverse a little if needed. Keep the feed end of the machine close to the drain/pipe. Once you get the hang of it, it's a breeze. The included rubberized gloves were a welcome addition. Don't ignore the safety glasses warning, you WILL get splashed with sludge at some point. Cleaning was easy. Just took it outside, pulled the snake all the way out and washed it with a bucket of soapy water and a rag, rinsed it with a hose and dried it with a rag while pushing the snake back into the drum. Battery worked well. I was able to unclog two drains with no sign of it slowing down. ... show more

Highly recommend, This is an outstanding product that lives up to its promises. I had been dealing with a stubborn blockage in a long kitchen drain that went along the back wall of my basement with portions that are hard to access. Hand augers gave brief relief, but I could never get the drain completely cleared, and the blockage would return within a short time. After the first use of this battery powered auger, the drain was cleared and is water is still flowing smoothly. The directions are clear, it is easy to use, and it is light enough to handle, yet very sturdy, and I am 84 years old. In addition, their customer service department is outstanding. After the drain had been cleared, I made a rooked mistake and lost the short cable back inside the unit and couldn't retrieve it. I took the unit apart, using a video that was sent by customer service in an email, and retrieved the cable; however, I was not as mechanically inclined a I thought I was, and had difficulty putting it back together. Customer Service responded by sending me a new unit as a replacement. That is service far beyond what most companies would provide. While not specifically designed for sewer line clean outs, I successfully used the POPULO Electric Drain Auger on the drain for my washing machine and on the sewer clean out line further up the system. This inexpensive, simple machine is less than half the price of a single service call. But if you have a serious drain blockage with heavy roots, broken line or serious obstruction, this is NOT the machine for you and you'll need something heftier. The POPULO Electric Drain Auger advanced smoothly down the pipes, was relatively quiet, and reversed easily when it reached its 23-foot maximum extension. It ripped out a bunch of small roots about 20 feet down the line and everything flows smoothly now. It is far lighter than a normal drain auger making it homeowner-friendly and easy to use in tight spaces. NOTES: 1. if possible, run the water while augering to lubricate the cable. 2. the gloves are pretty much useless--buy a pair of real leather work gloves if you want to handle the cable. 3. when finished, pour a bunch of heavy oil into a rag let the cable clean and oil itself as it feeds back into the unit. This will help keep it rust-free. It cleaned my drain lines and the water stopped backing up. Five stars so long as you don't demand too much from the POPULO Electric Drain Auger. ... show more
