Description

Pond Shield is a non-toxic epoxy liner, made in the U.S.A designed for the pond and water feature industry. It is used to waterproof and seal water features or ponds with a more designer, formal or natural look than rubber liners. Using Pond Shield epoxy means no more unsightly folds or creases. In addition, unlike rubber liners, there are eleven Standard colors available - Black, Charcoal Gray, Chocolate Brown, Clear, Competition Blue, Delta Blue, Gray, Moss Green, Sky Blue, Tan and White. Pond Shield is used for waterproofing structured surfaces found in water features such as Koi ponds, pools, fountains, aquariums, salt water tanks, hydroponics, streams, waterfalls, reflecting pools, mini lakes, holding tanks, etc. It is easily applied and easy to maintain and for most applications, a single coat application is all that is needed for proper coverage. In addition, your pond will be virtually maintenance free with a surface that algae can be easily wiped off of and is safe for fish (and other wildlife) and plants. Pond Shield offers both strength and flexibility in a coating in fact, strength and flexibility that is tested from -78 Degree F to 140 Degree F. Pond Shield is an epoxy pond liner that has been specifically designed to bond to porous or abraded materials such as concrete, wood, stone, most metals (treated and non- treated), brick, most ridged plastics, tile and many more. With a tensile bond strength stronger than the internal strength of the concrete, a single coat of Pond Shield epoxy will stick to what you apply it to. Over time, hairline cracks can form in concrete, mortar or grout joints. Being flexible, Pond Shield resists mimic cracking in these areas and provides the best protection possible in a coating.

  • Read instructions first very simple to mix and apply.

  • Long lasting
The media could not be loaded. I purchased the tan color in 2021 and applied it to my water wall basin. After 3 years of summers and winters, the product is still holding up well. As long as you follow the preparation directions, you will have success. Very easy to apply. I used a paint brush to cut in, then a small roller and tray to cover the middle. Just like painting a wall. Before filling each spring, I lightly clean the winter dust off the surface and refill. No visible cracks in the surface. Color is a bit faded after 3 years, but that is expected. I am definitely purchasing this again for my newest project. ... show more

  • Pretty good product
I used this to coat a plywood terrarium that will hold hermit crabs. The cans are not easy to manage, it gets everywhere, but once out of the cans it's easy to mix. I used 91% isopropyl alcohol to thin the mixture. My only complaint is that it didn't cover as much as it was supposed to (60 sq ft). Otherwise, I would recommend and use it again. ... show more

  • This Did The Job!
I used this for sealing a leaking fountain. I followed the directions precisely and the results were excellent. No more leaks! Having colors (including clear) other than black or white is a big plus, I chose tan. For those that have remarked about the coverage not being 60 square feet for the 1.5 quart kit, I would agree. But remember, the 60 square feet was simply based on the thickness of the coat. If the coat thickness is .02 inches instead of .01 inches (10 mil), the coverage drops to 30 square feet. I had a fairly small project so coverage was not an issue. The thickness on the bottom of the fountain had to be at least .125 inches. Still, I think the manufacturer should make the coverage value 30-60 square feet. One final note. Work fast with this stuff because when it starts to set, the painting is over. ... show more

  • The kids have all said how much better the slide is (faster)
I used this to coat the concrete slide on my pool. I had several cracks in the concrete and this product filled in the cracks and created a smooth/slick waterproof barrier. I had several quotes to repair slide for $$$$ and this was a low cost solution. The install took a little bit of a learning curve as the epoxy set up much faster than advertised, the ambient temperature really reducing the set-up time (95 degrees). I should have taken that into consideration on the first application. I had to add a little more denatured alcohol to thin it out, but it came out perfectly. The kids have all said how much better the slide is (faster). The finish is very smooth and slick. ... show more

  • Leaks. Bubbles form after coating. Hard to apply. Doesn't achieve stated coverage.
Meticulously cleaned/coated a concrete bird bath that had a small 1 mm. crack in it. Coated crack 3+ times, forcing product into tiny crack. Bath leaks one week later--product does not expand/contract enough for minor temperature changes. Furthermore, instructions state to apply in the morning. As another reviewed noted...as the day warms up, air expands when warm, so bubbles form even if in the shade. Might do better if applied as the temperature drops, that way it would be "sucked" into the concrete. Thick, hard to apply, but still runs down semi-vertical surfaces. Short application window. Messy. Glossy unattractive finish. Expensive. Leaks. Doesn't seal. Should have just sealed crack with $8 tube of silicone bath & tub, which I will now need to do... ... show more

  • Does a beautiful job for fountain and birdbath restoration
Work VERY well. I restored a large fountain that was ready to be tossed. Research on line, though. Fill all cracks with cement filler first before paint application. Then I took a wire brush to clean, then wash and dry. Left for days to make sure was well dried out. It is very helpful to call the service number as not as complex as it seems in the instruction. I also had a smaller job than the mix ingredients and they gave me the recipe for smaller amount. Then had enough for three coats. Does a beautiful job!! ... show more
