I have been through a few different HR monitors. They don't last forever especially if you workout on a regular basis. It is good to see the evolution of technology and quality design merging with the practical. My earlier model was an 520s, very basic, but it worked flawlessly in its form. No real way to transfer record sessions (only through the mic/speaker system, which did not work.) but as an immediate HR feedback device, it never failed. This v800 is a merge of a quality large form watch with a practical HR monitor. Very good looking with clean details. For women is probably a little on the heavy side and too big for the wrist. But for a men's medium sized wrist and larger this will fit well ( I have a size large wrist). The technical features are that of the M400 but with many extras. Mine came with the H10 HR sensor which is more accurate and has app bluetooth features but the H7 sensor activates the Heart Touch feature available with the a300/v800 which gives you an immediate display change to the "time" and back. Very handy during a training session. There also is a "tap" feature that I have not used yet since I want to put on a screen protector for this and to protect the watch face during workouts. GPS feature like that of the M400 works well and also has accuracy settings for battery longevity. I do wish the display had larger icons as well as the HR target window, fitness/cardio indicator like that of the a300. The silicon watch strap has a double wide set of lugs for the clasp with a keeper and anodized insert which looks good and fits well. I don't carry a phone with me during sessions so i will not be able to comment on the smart notifications, pairing and bluetooth/app connectivity the v800 has the capability of. I am also a bit leery of the contact/charging port/cable. With my other HR monitors, as long as you clean them, wash the HR sensor strap in soapy water and rinse, as well as clean the connecting/charging port on the watch, you should not have any issues. Also, I would recommend getting some contact cleaner with silicon and every so often spray the port/connection port after you have washed/dried it. The Polar Sync/Flow software is great. Polar has really thought this through. I would recommend an M400 or v800 over a trendy iWatch any day. The worst thing Polar could do is to change designs of their Products/Polar Sync/Flow in a way to try to reel in that market. Remember this is not a "Smart Watch", it has a specific intention and that is to monitor your workouts with a great looking watch design and software interface! ... show more

    • Broke just after return window
I'm so upset over this. My Polar v800 suddenly broke for no apparent reason. I've kept the port clean and dry but suddenly after the last charging session the battery ran down within 10 minutes and now when I try to recharge it nothing happens. This of course happens just after the return window has closed. Between the watch and the chest strap I am out a few hundred dollars. I can't afford to just drop that sort of money to replace it so I guess I am out of luck. ... show more

    • GPS accuracy of Polar v800
I have used the Polar v800 for about 8 months now. It is the probably the most accurate, and consistently accurate GPS watch I have ever used. I am a serious runner and I run over 2200 miles each year so I have a lot of experience with this watch. No Garmin can come close to the GPS accuracy of this watch, and even the Polar Vantage V, which I have is far less accurate. So, if GPS accuracy is important to you then you should get this watch. On the downside: the watch takes a long time to sync, and it is sometimes difficult to get the clip power connector to make contact. ... show more
