Description

At the heart of your training is the Polar T31 Coded Transmitter. Its purpose is simple: to transmit your heart rate to your wrist unit. Slim and light, the ECG (electrocardiogram) accurate transmitter is fully water resistant and designed for all weather conditions. Compatible heart rate monitors include, but are not limited to: FT1, FT2, FT4, FT7, FT40, FT60, FT80, RS100, RS300X, RS400, RCX5. Slim, lightweight, and water-resistant, the Polar T31 coded transmitter and belt set accurately transmits your heart rate data to your Polar wrist-top computer. As a result, it's easy to monitor your heart rate during training runs. This version of the T31 coded, meaning it prevents crosstalk from other electronic devices to ensure complete accuracy (Polar also sells a non-coded T31). It's also built to last, with a design that holds up to 2,500 hours of training usage. The transmitter belt--which works with all current Polar wrist-top computers except the CS600 and RS800--includes a sealed transmitter and elastic strap. About Polar The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company is committed to not only producing the best products, but also being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based exercise.Getting Started Getting started with your T31 Coded Transmitter is easy. For best results, thoroughly moisten the back electrode areas of the transmitter with water and adjust the strap length to fit snug, but comfortable. Check that the moist electrode areas are firmly against your skin and that the Polar logo is in the upright position. Tip: When you are finished with your workout, remove the transmitter, rinse with water and dry with a soft towel. Never store the transmitter wet, in a damp environment or in any kind of non-breathable material, such as a plastic bag or sports bag. Sweat and moisture may keep the electrodes wet and the heart rate sensor activated. This will shorten the battery life. Keep in a cool and dry place. • Inexpensive and works great
Used it a couple months so far, works great! I do need to wet the sensor part for it to read. Bought a compatible watch online (used) to monitor heart rate. It does sync with older precor elliptical, but true that if you have dimmer-switch lights, you should turn them all the way up or down, otherwise it's inaccurate. ... show more

  • Fast and accurate.
I have used this for many, many, years, and they work great. This is my third purchase of this heart rate transmitter. I use it with a stationary bike as well as a watch when exercising.

  • It works well with the treadmill at my gym
This item worked well with the treadmill at my gym. No problems at all. The monitored heart rate that it registers is very similar to the heart rate registered by my Apple Watch.

  • Hit and miss
I bought one for myself and works fine although I’m not sure of the accuracy. It’s up to 35bpm faster than my Fitbit, I’m not sure which is correct. The T31 will read 200 while the Fitbit is at 165. I bought a second one for my friend but it only worked a couple of times then stopped working even with the electro gel. ... show more

  • Look ma, no hands.
I purchased the Polar T31 Coded Heart Rate Transmitter on the hopes it would work with the Life Fitness Activate Series OST Treadmill at the fitness center I go to. I'm pleased to report right out of the box so far so good. Putting the thing on is a no brainer, even if you need to adjust it. Also wearing the transmitter wasn't as uncomfortable as I thought it would be. After putting it on, I just walked up to the machine and set the program I wanted to use and off I went. No more messages on the display about "no heart beat detected" and I don't have to have my hands on the sensors anymore. At this time I don't have anything else to compare the transmitter with in terms of accuracy except that the reading were in line with what I was getting when holding the sensors on the treadmill. Maybe even better. I did order the two-pack of the Spectra 360 Electrode Gel and used some on the transmitter where moisture was indicated. Problem with that is the bottles are larger in person than they appear online. I have enough to last me for the rest of my life. My initial impression of the Polar T31 Coded Heart Rate Transmitter is positive in that in does what I needed it to do and it's a no muss or fuss item. Time will tell if it holds up. ... show more

  • Excellent Telemetry Strap
I purchased this telemetry strap to use while working out at the gym. Almost all the cardio machines at my gym have Polar receivers and can display my heart rate from this transmitter without having to hold on to the physical sensors. This may not seem like a big win, but it's much more comfortable to walk on a treadmill or use an elliptical machine without having to hold on to heart rate sensors. Using the strap is easy: you just wrap it around your chest, connect the loose end of the strap to the sensor and moisten the contacts. There is no on/off button so you don't have to worry about anything except for putting it on. It is fairly comfortable to wear, and I don't really notice when it is on. The whole thing is made out of plastic and the strap is elastic. The build quality is excellent and it is completely waterproof. The strap is 'coded' which means that you don't have to worry about interference from other people wearing straps around the gym. This works with the polar wrist-watches, but I have found that the 'coding' doesn't work with the Life Fitness treadmills/elliptical machines or the Precor elliptical machines at my gym. Your mileage may vary, but if the person next to me on the machine is also wearing a telemetry strap, the machine will get confused and vary wildly in its reading. Sometimes it will display my heart rate, and others it will display the person next to me. This is more a problem of the proximity of the machines. If the other person is one machine away, there is no problem with interference. I haven't found this to be a big deal, if I need to I just move one machine over. Pros: + Fully waterproof + Excellent build quality + Comfortable + Accurate Cons: - Interference with other transmitters nearby in gym (this is a problem with the receiver on the equipment, not the strap). Bottom Line: Excellent strap to use with a watch. If you are using in a gym with a receiver on a machine, be prepared to deal with some interference if there is another transmitter within 5-10 feet. ... show more

  • 2 year battery life BUT read the whole review
I bought this "NEW" in June of 2016. In July 2018 it started not broadcasting my heart rate for about the first 20 minutes every workout until it gets warm and a little sweaty, then it starts working, slowly coming down from 220 indicated BPM or so to what my actual heart rate is. (my heart doesn't go 220-bpm) There are 25 spinning bikes in the room, it does the same thing ON ALL 25 BIKES, EVERY SINGLE BIKE SAME THING, so it is not the heart rate indicator on "THE BIKE"! I have used Polar HRMs since the 1990s maybe 1980s? Within the last 5 or 10 years or so the battery life has gotten shorter and shorter. Maybe mine sat on the shelf in some department store or in some bike shop for the first 5 or 10 years of its life before I bought it "NEW" from Amazon? I honestly don't know what to do. I have to buy another one because all the equipment i use at the health club (where i work) is Polar compatible. Maybe the non-coded one is cheaper and will last longer, we will see. This is a follow up, March 2019. I tried an experiment for the last month or two. I run the transmitter under water in the sink at the health club for a second or 2, just to make it wet. I put it on wet and i go into the spinning room and it works perfectly the second i turn on the heart rate indicator on the bike. All the way through the workout it works perfectly. SO if you have one that stopped working or works intermittently, run it under water and put it on to see if that makes it work. Maybe it is an indicator that the battery is getting low but this saved me from buying a new one at this time. Good luck! ... show more
