The media could not be loaded. Looked at tons of products including the sega luxe, homestar pro, dark skys pocket planetarium, uncle Milton 3d star theatre, encalife ambiance and galaxy star projector, bliss lights skylights laser projector and the original star master, all of which fall in the $50-$150 range (except the homestar luxe which runs a bit higher around $200). I settled on this one based on the mid level price point without compromising on the key benefits that a planetarium offers as opposed to a star projector. This projector is bright, has a great range of focus, is easy to stabilize, insert and remove discs, clean the lens and discs and not smudge them upon insertion, can be charged and removed for use without the cord making for a great portable or outdoor projection option when at places outside of just home, is aesthetically appealing in the pink and blue ombré, can use a number of disc brands including the plethora available for the orzorz star projector (note - la view discs are not compatible with this product, however). This was a key reason I went with this option as it provides for a plethora of additional disc options to choose from on the market that isn’t isolated to this manufacturer alone. I am very pleased after the first use of this product and it isn’t even all the way dark in our room yet. My two year old was oooing and awing and this was her first stargazing experience ever! From a planetarium! Cant speak to the longevity of the bulb or part components, however, with a price point that sits ~100 dollars below the comparable products available on the market today, the trade off around the product long term durability will not affect my perception of this product. It should be noted the product and materials do not in any way come with hints of cheaply made Chinese plastic junk or suggest poor craftsmanship or use of lowest cost to produce type of materials and color dyes - which I am extremely pleased about. The packaging is secure and quality is clear, with clear instructions that do not bear huge gaps in the user guide or have Inklings of poor translation to the English language which has often been a telltale sign of the products that typically do not deliver or meet the expectations advertised. Hope this review helps! My 2 yr old daughter and I will get equal enjoyment and relaxation from this planetarium projector - if you’re considering one that is a scientifically accurate depiction of the images projected as opposed to just a star projector that displays inconspicuous arrangements of twinkling lights - you wont be disappointed. There are plenty of disc options featuring the universe, Star formations, galaxies, black holes, all sorts of nebulas, the planets, the moon, moon phases and etc. ... show more

    • Great addition to toddler’s nap and sleep routine

My toddler loves this and has fallen asleep many times under the stars. I plan to get additional projection discs. We put this on while we read books and power it off a few minutes before our toddler goes down for a nap or sleep over night. It has a nice bright light which projects a clean image. I wish the brightness was adjustable to make it dimmer. The room does get a little too bright for my liking. Focus ring is easy to use but it does not offer any resistance to adjustment and does not lock into place. It’s easy to accidentally adjust the focus ring if you move the projector. Tilt adjustment similarly is also very easy. However if you move or touch the projector, it’s too easy to accidentally tilt the device. This model included a black and white projection disc of stars which was super sharp and clear. It also included a second disk which is very colorful but the focus is way to soft and seems blurry to me. FYI you can buy discs directly from Pococo’s site in bundles or individually. ... show more

Happy with the quality of images. They are beautiful and high quality! Brightness is very good although I wouldn't mind brighter bulb. This blows the lower level galaxy projectors away with performance, however. This thing is super cool! Everyone I've shown it to loves it. The battery lasts a couple hours and device also functions plugged in. The base tilts for angles which is nice. The focus knob works well but sometimes the rotation feature can slowly turn the knob a tad out of focus. Not really noticeable but present if I'm being nitpicky. The projector is very quiet and smooth moving. The only issue I have is that the projector automatically turns off after a couple hours even when plugged in. I imagine this is due to potential overheating? If that's the case the timer should be longer, maybe 4 hours, as it's not hot to touch or anything after this amount of time. With that said, I can just turn it back on when this occurs. I feel like the price of extra images is high and would be nice to be able to buy them individually rather than a set. I don't like being forced to buy the whole set when all I want is a single image or 2 from each. Would be cool to have them rotate automatically and hope they make one that's capable of this and also affordable! For now it's one at a time. There's no way to tell if the image discs are upside down when placing them in but can figure it out from the example image on the case. Doesn't seem to affect quality though. Plan to purchase the planet set next and currently enjoying the "gorgeous nebula" set. These all seem to be real Hubble images. Truly gorgeous. Highly recommended and would be 5 stars if not for the auto off and high price of discs. ... show more

We bought this for our four-year-old's birthday, and I'd say it's perfect for that. The one-watt bulb, which I thought might be inadequate, is way bright enough for a bedroom, even with a little light from outside -- any brighter would risk disturbing sleep. The build quality is good -- it's tolerated being dropped several times now with no noticeable change. The projection sharpness is good. There is no compensation for projecting at an angle across the ceiling, so the entire projection is never in focus, but that's a way more complicated optics system and not necessary for this. This is not a planetarium, it's for saying "check out the cool galaxy! This is how tiny we are!" For that it's a great purchase. Happy with it. ... show more
