I just moved to a ski town so I'm going to be skiing around 50 days this season. I figure with that amount of ski days the odds of something happening like a collision go up and I want to ski more gnarly terrain anyway. I'm 5'10" 162 lbs. with an athletic build and the Slim Medium is perfect. The protector stays in place and does not restrict movement at all. It doesn't even feel weird on the chairlift. There’s something very strange about the zipper. At first I thought it was broken but it reversed. Makes it difficult to zip up.

Pro: Spine pad is long enough, not like many pads that only cover a small part of your back Con: Sizing on the wide side, and design doesn't work (for mountain biking) unless you are exactly the right size I'm 6'2" and 165'lbs. I ordered a L/Slim. Even though it is labeled slim, I think I'd have to weight about 20lbs more to fill this thing out. There is a waist strap, but since the top has so much extra material, the top 80% of the pad is loose and claps against my back. I see many are using this to ski, if you will have a heavy jacket to hold it in place, this may be a good light-weight option, but if you want to wear this mountain biking, find something with some straps to cinch it down. ... show more

My kids have used POC vests for years. They are freestyle skiers and snowboarders. They jump and do rails and this added protection has been very important. The kids have never complained about fit. They wear these over their under layers and below their jackets. I highly recommend for this use case. ... show more

Awesome back protector. My 13 yo son (ski racer) would rarely wear his strap on back protector so it was a waste of money, not to mention unsafe. I thought I'd try this one. He loves it. He says it's like not wearing one at all! He is 5'9" and 115 lbs and the M/Slim fit him perfectly.
