The PlayStation VR2 offers a unique and immersive gaming experience that makes users feel they're inside their games. While most reviewers find the virtual reality experience impressive, some faced struggles with image clarity and experienced motion sickness. However, the pros seem to outweigh the cons, with the VR2 offering a seamlessness in transitioning from standard PS5 gameplay.

Pros

  • 💎 Superior picture quality compared to competitors
  • 🔄 Seamless transition between PS5 and PSVR2 games
  • 🔀 Button to quickly switch back to real-life surroundings
  • 💬 Allows for social experiences with private match options
  • 🎮 Immersive gameplay that lets users truly feel inside games

Cons

  • 🔃 Motion sickness experienced by some players
  • 🕹 Takes time to get used to the controllers
  • ⚙ Complex set-up process
  • 🚪 Some users reported a reduced field of view

Should I Buy It?

If you're an enthusiastic gamer who enjoys immersive experiences and own a PS5, the PlayStation VR2 could be a thrilling addition to your gameplay. However, those with motion sickness, or prioritizing high-quality imagery, might want to try it out first to see if it meets expectations.

  • HIGH QUALITY VR
Platform For Display: PlayStation VR2 Color: PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2)
As a disclaimer, I bought this PSVR2 on sale for 350$ and the rest of this review will be reflective of THIS price point. At 550$ My rating would drop by one star, but that is for another day. Comfort (4.5/5): So, I’ve only ever owned this VR headset and the Quest 2. I don’t know how it compares to other headsets, but I have always found it to be comfortable enough for a couple of hours without issue. I know that there’s a strap you can buy if you find that it slips during high movement games or depending on your head shape. Library(4.5/5): Taking into consideration the games coming out this year and the fact that this headset probably has at least two more years of content coming to it. I’m happy to say that most of you will be happy with the library! The only issue here is that it doesn’t have Half Life: Alyx. But, given the new PC adapter you find access to two PC (Steam)! Ease of use/installation(5/5): If you use this on PlayStation, there is like ZERO setup (aside from initial or compared to some PC headsets). I’ve personally never had issues with using it or connecting it. I have also never had the controller issues that some people have had, though *OCCASIONALLY (once or twice every dozen hours) I do get controller tracking hiccups from it. But ultimately it is very good and reliable. Graphics(5/5): Now, before anyone is a smart but, no it is not better than a 2-3 THOUSAND dollar setup. If you have money go buy something else. What I am telling you, is if you already bought a PS5/Pro for OTHER reasons then this 350$ price point is an AMAZING offer. The graphics look good and crisp thanks to foviated rendering. It also runs at a consistent 120 fps in the games that I have played it on, which is mainly Arizona Sunshine 1 & 2, GT7, Metro: Awakening, Beat Saber, and No Mans Sky! So I *personally get NO motion sickness. Price(5/5): At 350$, PSVR2 makes a fantastic purchase and a great headset. It’s only real competitor at this price point is Quest 3, which is great as well but for different audiences. However, if you are reading this after the sale the I would say WAIT! The headset is great but it is missing a Alyx sized game to justify 550$ ... show more

  • 🔥 Extremely Impressive 🔥
Platform For Display: PlayStation VR2 Color: PlayStation VR2 Bundle (PSVR2)
This is by far the best experience and immersion anyone can have, especially the value for the money and ease of installation. And the soon to come updates: PSSR support (PS5 pro) & Full Hand tracking motion without the sense controllers. Is pretty amazing how many developers are now busy developing great titles & experiences exclusively for the PSVR 2, now that it has finally become extremely popular. Thanks to the massive holiday sales discount, sky rocking the PSVR 2 sales in a very dramatic way. Definitely a must have with the PS5 and especially with the PS5 pro. 🔥 Happy Gaming Everyone 🔥 ... show more

  • Does not work with PC
Platform For Display: PlayStation VR2 Color: PlayStation VR2 Bundle (PSVR2)
Do not buy this if you are wanting to use with PC - the PC adapters made by Sony are no longer available, I paid above retail for one on ebay (it appears to be legit with PS logo and and labling) - but I'm not able to return it - if they do ever restock the adapter you will also need to buy a Display port cable, a Blu tooth adapter (b/c built in Bluetooth will not work do to 'interference' from the PC and you will need to buy a usb extension cable, bc the PS controllers will not stay connected to the blutooth if it connected to or Near a USB 3port (this is according to Playstations own troubleshooting guide) - if you do get it to work, do not ever shut off your PC b/c you will most likely have to un-install and reinstall everything to MAYBE get it to work again. - i used the game code before i knew this was a janky POS so now i'm stuck with a headset that has just a hand full of games on the play station. and a final FU from Sony, any games you purchased for the original PS VR head set will not work with PS VR2. Look elsewhere for VR gear. Sony, you owe me a refund for this janky headset ... show more

  • AMAZING! Ready for Alien Rogue Incursion
Platform For Display: PlayStation VR2 Color: PlayStation VR2 Bundle (PSVR2)
I havent been much into the VR side of things until the recent news of Alien Rogue Incursion I was debating between Meta Quest 3 vs PSVR2. Biggest pro's were obvious Meta Q3: Standalone. No console required PSVR2: Console powered resolution. OLED lens Then finally price. Both being $500, I was leaning towards Meta Q3, but with the Black Friday deal of $350, this was a no brainer, and I hope Sony sells a crap ton, because its such a killer deal Setup 5/5. Very simple to setup. (Charge the VR controllers first and follow prompts) Build Quality 4/5 Lightweight and solid. Not sure how durable, so be careful with all hardware, especially the main USB-C that hardwires to PS5 VR Experience: 5/5 Just wow. I only got to play Gran Turismo 7 in VR and it was unbelievable, although I started to experience motion sickness after 1 lap, it will take some getting use to. But, I was blown away and look forward to trying more VR titles. I am mainly excited for Alien Rogue Incursion which releases 12/19/24 Overall 5/5 (at $350) If you can snag this at this price and you have a PS5, this is hard to beat. If being mobile/independent is top priority, go with Quest 3 or Quest 3S. If the Quest 3 was same price as the PSVR2, I personally would go with Quest 3 because of it being standalone unit. However the con if having PSVR2 hardwired to a PS5 makes up in the display/graphics over the Quest 3, which evens them out depending on what is important to you *Tip (Right VR controller not working in-game) This has been an known issue. If this happens to you, the VR controller has a small pin hole (reset) button that you will press and hold, then re-pair the controller. Once I did this, the Right VR controller was now working in-game. Hope this helps! ... show more
