Top Amazon Reviews

  • Bad on Amazon's Part, Product = AMAZING
Color: Black
I was Very skeptical about this display, i had never used 3D in my home, or experienced it at a friend's, but i knew Sony makes very high quality products. I had almost cancelled my order with Amazon, but they had already charged my card when i found out they had run out of the bundles, even though i preordered on the 20th of october. thats what a preorder is isnt it? to have atleast enough for the preorders? well, i also had found out that the game promised on the other page was not going to be included; i argued with customer service multiple times and overall they compensated me $25. the thing that surprised me however, was that after i had recieved my order yesterday, they still sent me an email for $59.99 off of resistance 3, so completely free. so, i got the bundle and the game, and $25 extra, all for when i was only supposed to be getting the bundle. Amazon usually is very good, i get virtually every electronic item i buy, from amazon, and i had never had this problem, so when this happened i was pissed. then yesterday they send me the email for R3 for free? i felt like everything would be forgotten soon, and in fact i just preordered the PSVita Bundle from amazon, hoping they actually ship it on time and keep their promise of (possible) preorder bonuses. Now onto the bundle itself: It comes with: the Playstation 3D display (not a tv, no cable tuner or remote), Base and Base connector included 1 pair of 3D simulview glasses, with 6" usb charger 1 HDMI Cable, capable of full 1080p, 3D, and Ethernet. 1 Copy of Motorstorm Apocalypse (only game i know of at this point with simulview capabilities) various manuals and instructions. the tv itself is amazing quality. in fact, i am making this review on it right now. it has 2 HDMI connectors for pc, ps3, xbox, blue ray, etc. 1 component, for i am assuming, like i do, record gameplay, major game capture devices like the Roxio game capture card and the hauppage HDPVR use component cables. being that the display is made for gamers would mean they would realize this. using HDMI is quite stunning. in 2D, everything is crisp and clear, bright and vivid; one of the better displays out there. there is a little bit of smudging it appears, or in another review, dust. it is only visible with a all white screen or from not looking head on. i am assuming it is something to do with 3D, which is great, but the i havent explored it enough to fully give a reliable review on that part, but once i start playing uncharted 3 and assassins creed revelations in 3D i am sure to be blown away. the component is as good as i expected, but not better or worse. there is quite a bit of ghosting, due to the fact i can only record in 1080i with my Roxio, which is a capture card, not an hdpvr, but its pretty good none the less. link to unboxing/gameplay/setup: [...] the 3D glasses themselves are, i am sorry to say, made of low grade plastic, and seem like it would be easy to break them. not bad though considering the price, and they are the only glasses on the market that support simulview right now. work well enough though. the usb cord included to charge the glasses are TINY. literally 6", not quite enough. not a big problem though, any micro usb charger will do i believe. HDMI cable is a good quality, sony cord. delivers 1080p+ and 3D obviously, and Ethernet. Nothing much to say... I was not able to test the simulview with motorstorm, having this purchase totally tanked me; i am broke, so therefore i was not able to get an extra pair of glasses, sorry. the manuals i found, except for the 3D glasses one, are completely unneeded. setup was the easiest technical setup ever, slap the base together, put the display on it, merely another snap, plug the power in, plug something in eg. ps3, and you are ready to go, 3d even. all in all, i think this bundle was a worthwhile and useful purchase, maybe not $500 worth, but definately quality; it will last awhile, and will continue to be one of the better looking pictures for 2D and 3D. i can tell you i will entirely enjoy it, now and for a long, long time. forgetting the trouble with amazon, and this was a solid purchase. if you are willing to pay $500, definately a must buy, but buy it at gamestop while uncharted 3 is included at no extra cost; Resistance 3 was just a preorder bonus. ... show more

  • READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY THIS MONITOR! It is a HORRIBLE piece of equipment, and SONY IS A NIGHTMARE!
Color: Black
This monitor was nothing but a nightmare. Bought, rarely used, returned THREE times under warranty. I have determined today, after yet another call to Sony support, that Sony trains their customer service representatives to say ANYTHING to the customer to get them off the phone. I asked Sony for a refund since the monitor is continually going bad. I feel that's a reasonable request considering it's not the Amazon seller's responsibility that the product is junk. With the request for a refund, Sony tells me they will send TWO games back with the monitor. That is not a refund, but at least it's something. When the monitor is returned, no games, and, mind you, this is time number 3 for sending the monitor back. I called, yet again, and, this time, I spent time on the phone with the representative and actually picked out 2 games. Here we are months later, still no games, with YET ANOTHER phone call to Sony. This time, the representative tells me I am entitled to ONE game, and it's not any of the ones I picked out a couple months ago. In summary, the PS3 3D Display is a complete joke. For the 5 minutes that it works, it's a beautiful thing. The colors are rich, contrast is amazing, the 3D is incredible, but, just when you're excited about it, it dies. Then you have the task of dealing with Sony support. I would rather have 4 trips to the dentist than deal with Sony. The real issue is they get you invested, PS3, games, controllers, etc., so there's no turning back. Do yourself a real favor, DO NOT BUY THIS MONITOR, because, if you do, you will eventually have to deal with Sony. Sony is a nightmare you do not want to have to let into your life. ... show more

  • A big deal for small spaces & smaller budgets.
Color: Black
Caution: This will be a totally biased review. I love Sony PlayStation & I love this display monitor. Also, I will not repeat the entire product description here. I will, however, mention the relevant aspects of my own experience with this product. Firstly, the physical properties: The 24 inch screen may be small for many tastes, but if you live in a small apartment, a dorm room, or don't mind a TV in the bedroom, it makes for a nice fit. The picture quality is excellent - clean, vibrant colors, all in beautiful high definition 1080p, 240hz with 3D capability. The draw back is that the small size requires some rather close up viewing, especially when using it for 3D viewing, so bigger rooms and easy chairs don't allow for the full pleasure of the display. The display is also light in weight, so it travels quite nicely, which is good for me (I work at a paramedic station on 24 hour shifts, so I often take the display & PS3 with me). Set up with a PS3 is a piece of cake when using an HDMI cable - I cannot imagine it's that much more difficult using a component cable or with another gaming system, cable box, or other video source. The display has two HDMI inputs and one component (5 prong) input. Sorry, no 3 prong RCA cable inputs. Another plus, with an HDMI setup, is that turning on the PS3 via Dual Shock 3 controller turns on the whole setup - good for the fundamentally lazy...like me. The display has the exciting feature of Simulview which eliminates the need for split screen multiplayer gaming. It does require the use of the 3D glasses, but you get to play co-ops & on-line multiplayers with an entire screen all to yourself. The big disappointment is that not very many games, two or three so far, support Simulview. The speakers make some decent sound for a small display. Again, though, the small size requires some proximity for optimum enjoyment. However, if you have some decent speakers or head-phones that use a standard 3.5mm head-phone jack, then sound is no longer that much of an issue. The interface buttons are a bit of a challenge. I just memorized that the top button is the power button and the button with the little bead is the up-volume button. The rest is fluff that the Sony BD Remote covers nicely. Out of the box, you get the display, a stand (it is not built to accept a wall mount), an HDMI cable, a pair of 3D glasses w/ charging cable, and Motorstorm Apocalypse. With the price down to around $200, I think the display is a steal for those with a desire to experience HD & 3D on a modest budget & in small dwellings. ... show more
